Hello!

324MBS with the U-Dinette rear telescoping table. Anyone been able to make it strong enough to set a drink on or eat with kids? When we got the unit there was some movement but not major. After a summer of use, it now has 2-3" of play side to side (I have tightened the heck out of the clamps, and they cannot get any tighter). It is now to the point where my 3 and 5 year old cannot eat cereal on it without my coffee spilling. I have it currently winterized and in storage, but looking for a fix to make it useable come March / April when we get back out on weekends. General RV said that is how they all are, and they cannot fix it. I considered making like a "T" with 2x4's or something of sorts to wedge in there when we get to a location, but I cannot be the only one with the issue. Its the only table we have to eat / drink / play games on inside the unit and it currently is not usable with an open glass or bowl of cereal etc.

I appreciate any tips you may have!

Cheers!

I don't have any knowledge of the table configuration so just thinking out loud. Can you use flat or tube aluminum to make a cross or angle brace of any sort? And if that works but you wish to paint it, be aware you will have to sand it first.

I totally could, I was thinking of essentially having a T Wedge of a 2x4 that I would just slide in upon getting to my location that I would put on the front side (towards kitchen)... but was more curious if there was actually something wrong with mine or if others had issues. I don't want someone to kick it and then scratch up the floor etc. I know with kids it will get bumped / hit, but that is better than having an un-usable table. Here is a photo for example what it looks like as is now

So is the play in the floor insert? If so, could you insert shims along the side(s) in the receptacle? If that worked you could maybe put some sort of a strap on them to pull them back out more easily.

The base is solid into the floor it seems, it is in the telescoping area that has some wiggle. A small wiggle there makes a big wiggle up top. There are two clamps to tighten that up, but they are as tight as can be. I apologize for not having a video of it I have also been considering some sort of thick rubber wrap and additional clamps around it to see if it will stiffen it up. If I didn't want the option to turn it into a bed, I would remove the telescoping fully and make my own if that makes sense. It seems inherent to the design to be an issue and almost a 2 post system that is removable (I know Forest River uses these) may have been a better option. But they keep making them this way so maybe its just mine? Others seem to have issues when I searched but was more so on a table that goes to the wall vs. the U-Dinette, as on a few models have that.

Ours is a 2025 324mbs, and we have the same issue. It doesn't sound as severe as yours yet, but I have serious doubts how well it will hold up down the road.

I had the dealer look at it and they found nothing structurally bad. I think it's a poor design. Most of the time its just me and my wife so it's not a problem. But when the grandkids join us, they lean on it when getting in/out of the dinette, then we really see the wobble. We love the dinette over our fixed table in our 2017 303rls, but the table mount is not good.

If it worsens, I'll call GD and see where that goes. I may look at modifying the base and supports with angle iron, but it would mean losing the telescoping table. I need to give it more thought.

i use Velcro, hook side on edge of table and fuzzy side on the wall, where the two meet (if they do on your model). This makes for a very sturdy table and I leave the table up during transport.

I have the same RV and seen the same issue when I first bought in Dec. The two clamps on the leg, open them as if you are wanting to lower or raise the leg. Tighten the lever you pulled to release the clamp by turning it clockwise. Push it closed again and it will stiffen up as you would expect.

Our layout is different so in our dinette one end rests against the wall. I also did everything I could to get it stabile from the base itself. They just cannot get tight enough to not move when someone rest their elbows on the table. My solution was to put 2x2 frame attached to the wall and screwed into the bottom of the table. That only works for us because we never drop the table to make it into a bed. Yours would be difficult to stabilize it seems. What about a different base altogether? But then if you want to easily be able to drop it down for a bed, that's a challenge. Hmmm. :confusedgif:

The adjustment I mentioned worked for us. Now if i could find the ABS Module for the brakes.
It worked for us too at first but didn't take long before it felt loose again and repeat. They are so tight now after retightening that the space between the clamps is gone. But you did prompt another thought...if a person removed the bolt assembly from the clamp, maybe the ends of the clamp could be shaved/cut back to create a new gap and allow them to be tightened further...

Do you have a pic of your fix?

You mean of the wall mount solution? I don't have one at the moment. The RV is covered for winter but I have been meaning to go out to take some measurements. If I do that this week, I'll try to remember to snap a picture of the table mount.

It just occurred to me that while on our Alaska trip I replaced that 2x2 piece of wood for an aluminum angle bracket as the wood piece came loose also. The angle piece fit tighter to the wall (there's not much there for the screws to bite into on our model), and I used Gorilla Glue with screws to hold it to the wall. Probably isn't very pretty but it's under the table and the table is very sturdy.

Same here. I have tightened ours pretty much every trip, and now it cannot get any tighter and is wobble city. Thanks for the ideas / comments though! When I pull it out of storage in a month or so I will see what I can do, and may have to go the fold down adjustable legs to make it more of a tri-pod set up so I can safely set coffee in the morning.
