Hi Experienced RV Owners,

How are you all doing? I'm a first time RV owner, and new to mygrandrv as of yesterday. I just purchased my 25grand ds XLS 25DBE about one week ago, towed with a 2024 GMC sierra 1500 4 doors 4x4 diesel. My first ever trip with the RV is coming up in 2 weeks, and the distance is about 6 hours away from home. Please chime in with your road trip suggestions for a newbie. Thanks

Welcome, Enjoy your first outing. If you can spend a night or 2 in the trailer before your trip to get to know the trailer some. Also, if you are looking for roadtrip suggestions it would help knowing where you're leaving and where you're going

Welcome aboard, @WhittleBurner made a good suggestion to spend a night in your rig on your driveway before leaving on your trip. Let us know how else we can help.

Well the first thing I would do readjust the wdh
I assume it was installed by the dealer and the trailer was empty
Once it is loaded with camping gear the weight will change
Then I would go to a scale and weigh the rig

Unsure what the payload is on your truck but it will likely max out your specs

Thank you, I'm going from Sacramento to Pismo Beach CA.

Thank you, I have this wdh, will it work?

I want to be on the beach which my RV, would you recommend that?
Last time we parked in the sand on the shores of Lk MI we sunk about 3 or 4 inches and almost had to get pulled out. That was our 2nd time sinking parking on a shoreline (1st was along Lk Huron) we now look for paved spots to park if it's a beachy setting. If you're comfortable knowing if the sands not haeavily packed you could have problems when leaving.

Thanks for the info.

Camping on the beach can be pretty cool....but personally I avoid it because corrosion from the salt and sand worries me. There are some great RV parks in and around Pismo, though. We have stayed at the North State Beach campground (no hookups) and at Pismo Coast Village right next door in the area south of the pier. Loved them both!

As you were saying about the salt that worries me too. Thanks
