Started thinking about winterizing my 21bhe since it will be my first time. So today I started poking around under the oven to get an idea of what I would need to buy/fix/etc... Then decided to pull the panel off under the fridge and look at the furnace, see what's going on back there.

I see this, 2 inch flex duct going no where, and a hole with nothing in it.

I had a big brain moment and figure that duct is supposed to go in that hole

So I have 3 questions:
  1. Does that duct go in that hole for underbelly heat?
  2. Is that duct supposed to be attached to something or just dangling in the hole?
  3. Would it hurt anything to stuff some loose fiberglass insulation around the duct in the hole?

thanks

On my 21BHE the 2" duct is routed into the hole that you put yours into. I thought about taping the duct into the hole thereby sealing it but then I thought the hopefully cooler air could not escape the underbelly. I'm not sure that I would put anything that might restrict the returning air. YMMV.
