We have two Solera awnings on our trailer - one extends and retracts properly. The other one worked great until yesterday. We went to deploy it and it only extended out about 2-3 inches then stopped. We fully retracted it and tried again multiple times but it would only go out a few inches and then stop - even if you kept hitting the extend button (on the control unit or on the app - it didn't matter) it would go no further. It always retracts fully with no hesitation. Thoughts, suggestions? TIA for your help.

The motor of the awning should have a nut on it to move the awning in manually with a wrench or a drill attached with the right sized socket. Use the socket to see if it moves past the point where it stops when using the switch. If it doesn't move past it could be a problem with the gears possibly.

Interesting. The device is just a motor so if the rails were binding then the roller would continue to unspool the roller tube and the awning would come down.

You would think that if the motor turned several times already it would not have an issue. Do you hear any odd sounds? Also, after extending 2-3” then stops, if you retracted 1” then extended again, does it respond immediately or is there a “time out” period before you can extend again.

Thinking it may be some high current drain that is tripping a self-resetting circuit breaker perhaps?

The suggestion above would eliminate any mechanical issue with the motor. The nut should move freely to manually extend/retract the awning.
