Hello, we went today to look at the new Imagine XLS 24BSE RV. On the grand design website, this camper is listed as having theater seats or a trifold sofa as optional.

https://www.granddesignrv.com/travel-trailers/imagine-xls/24bse

Really like it, would certainly buy it if I could find one with the trifold sofa. Talked to the dealer, the dealer says "no you cannot get that with a trifold sofa, it only comes with theater seats". Well that killed any use for that RV for us. We drove a long way there, so on the way home, I called another dealer. They were going to talk to factory rep and get back to me today, didnt happen. So the question is twofold, or threefold. Any chance they just messed up their website, and you cannot actual get a trifold sofa in that model?

Secondly, I see many posts on this forum talking about replacing furniture. So I have seen the links, to RECPRO, I believe, where i could buy a trifold sofa from them. So this is the something that is feasible, to buy this thing and take out the theater seating and put the trifold in? One thing I saw, the sofa would be in a slide, therefore the elevation between the slide and the internal floor is slightly different, when the trifold would be extended. Are those theater seats generally just sitting there, such that one could remove one and just set the other one there?

Third, is there a way to just order what I want from Grand Design? I would expect that would cost me alot, as dealers want to move what they have. I wouldn't think I'd get any MSRP reduction or anything like that.

Thanks in advance for any insight into this!

I would reach out to GD again, See if yo can get an answer.
Also keep poking around and see if you can find a sofa that would fit. it would be simple. If i rememebr correctly our tri fold sofa has the legs that are underneath when you fold it out, you can make an adjustment so the bed sits flat on the floor. If you know the measurments, you should be able to find something. Also as in our Fifthwheel, 337, the theater seat is screwed down to the floor so it doesn't move around while on the road, you will want to do it to the sofa as well. MY thoughts, Good Luck.

Not likely GD made a mistake in the drawing. My guess is the dealer wants to sell what is sitting on the lot now not do a special order. It's also an easy swap the dealer could do as an extra part of the sale.

I'd find a different dealer who is willing to make the order the way you want straight from GD.

Check out www.shop4seats.com ......high quality-custom made. The only problem you might have to wait a few months to get it while they make it. We had a jack-knife sofa made for our previous rig, better quality than the RecPro or Thomasville stuff and you have some color and material options. You should be able to find something to fit in whatever space you need. I've already checked out future options as it's probably only a matter of time that our Thomasville lounges start shredding.

I think one of our Sale's Reps talked to you over the weekend.

I did talk to my GD Rep, and the answer is that the tri-fold sofa is a "hidden option". It is not on a dealer order form, but can be ordered.

You should have heard from our Sale's Rep either Monday or Tuesday.

If you use the "build it" tool on the GD website, there is no option for the tri-fold sofa...

So I figured I'd come back to this thread and add what happened. It all worked out fine, but I ended up just buying a stock 24BSE and changing out the theater seats myself. I bought a trifold sofa from camping world, surprisingly after checking out Thomas Payne, and Rec Pro as best we could, we bought the Kathy Ireland trifold from CW. We actually drove 2 hours to try it. It was far more comfortable than Thomas Payne. I've had two adults spend 3 nights on it so far with no complaints at all. I had to alter the legs, since its in a slide and the floors are not coplaner. It looks good, and amazingly is basically the same color. If anyone ever wants to know, the furniture color in the BSE is Seaport Dusk, and the CW trifold is Seaport Seal. They're the same as far as I see. Also, we love that BSE!, only thing is the single table pedestal is a bit more wobbly than I'd like, but I am working on that! Everything else, is fine.
