Hi all,

I see listed pin weight of 2900, but figure it’s plus plus from there.

Have any of you weighed your trucks and have real world pin weight

Bonus would be actual weight of over all trailer loaded up.

Should work with my truck but really want to confirm what real world pin weight will be…

Thanks

Thread moved to Fifth Wheel Hitching Topics.

I can't help you with an actual pin weight, but for most fifth wheels, 21 - 23% of the GVWR is a good working number to start with for a loaded pin weight. For that trailer, it would calculate at 4,200+ lbs. Toy haulers tend to not follow this rule as closely, though, depending on what's in the garage. At any rate, at 20,000 lbs. GVWR, that trailer is firmly in 1-ton dually territory.

I have a 381M that has roughly the same length and dry pin weight. My typical towing weight is 18,700 pounds with a 3,000 pound pin weight (16%). I have weighed my configuration 13 times and never been above 20% pin weight. I actually have to move items forward in the garage to prevent from being too light on the pin rather than too heavy.

I have 35,000 miles and five years towing with a SRW F-350 with no issues. Your pin weight is going to depend greatly on how you load the garage, but the higher you push the total trailer weight the lower the percentage of the pin weight will be. That is because the major cargo area (garage) is behind the axles and the front cargo area is limited.
