I’m interested in adding a second alternator to my truck (probably 24v) and adding a dc-to-dc battery charger to charge my 48v lithium batts in our 310. It appears Victron doesn’t make a 48v charger for this purpose. Sterling Power makes both a 12v to 48v and a 24v to 48v charger for this application. I can’t find anyone so far that makes a 48v to 48v version (that is assuming I could even find a 48v alternator).
Has anyone tried this?
We just got back from Alaska where we boondocked most of the time. Normally it took between 1 to 1.5 hrs of genny time to charge up the 48v batts each day. On travel days, I could forgo using the genny if I had the truck set up this way. I don’t have any solar yet, and frankly it would have been of little use given the weather we had for extended periods.
Thanks.
