A couple of questions on PDI’S.

1) I am in negations with a dealer to do my own PDI on a new 5th Wheel. Need some help in finding out how to check that the Solar is charging the batteries, when the trailer will be in their covered inspection area, plugged into shore power. On my previous trailer the Solar panels had a faulty connection which I did not find until my first trip with it.

2) Does anyone know if dealers usually do their own PDI when the unit first arrives at the dealership, or just before the unit is ready for customer walk around?
I guess I am asking if the dealer’s PDI report should be available to me before I do mine.

It probably varies from dealer to dealer, but wanted to ask.

Thanks

You will be signing a warranty activation form that SHOULD have been truthfully filled out by the dealer, with PDI items checked off.

Not saying all dealers do it the right way, but you should be able to do your own inspection, or hire a pro to do one.

You can request the unit be outside for your inspection...

As to when inspections are done, I check in every new unit that comes onto or lot for driver damage and any blatantly obvious defects. Depending on a timeline, they will then get a Technician PDI done. If it is sold within 90 days of the initial PDI, we do not do another one. If it is longer than 90 days, another PDI is done before the walk through with the customer.
