Question in how to lay out the Eternabond tape so there isn't any gaps where the four corners of the 14" x 14" hole come together. The vent is removed and the surface is clean and flat but it seems no matter how you lay out the tape there's going to be room for moisture to creep in. Please advise. Thanks!

What is the eternabond for?

Isn’t there just a foam gasket?

Place your laps to resist wind. So, rearward piece, then sides and then front. I'd personally foil tape the opening sides first with a 1 inch turn onto the roof deck and then E-tape with a small turndown into the opening. Use a seam roller and a little heat and get that E-tape nice an flat. Your air conditioner gasket will seal fine over the laps. This is one place I would not use lap sealant on the edge of the E-tape because you don't want to dike up the condensate.

All cleaned up and taped up. No problem. Seal looks great! Next time I'll try not to get so carried away when cleaning things up.
