Adding a washer and dryer?

Has anyone added one or both? Looks like the only trick is cutting a 3" hole for the dryer vent.

@Bill or Janice.... Do y'all have dryer vents in the brown/tan color available?

Thanks for any input.

Red

I can tell you, dryer vents only come in two colors, white and chrome.

I would buy a white one and paint it with the Krylon Fuzion for plastic rattle can.

Install is pretty straight forward...

I just ordered a washer/dryer combo to be installed Feb. 3rd. Hope it's all I expect.

Out of curiosity, what is the make/model and do you know what it weighs?

Dave
[/quote]I ordered a splendid, vented. I believe it is about 140lbs. I could be wrong on that. Last week Camping World had them on sale, with installation only $29.00.. Don't think I'll find a better deal anywhere else.

Hi Red

We are shut down today and tomorrow because of snow and cold - crazy!

Janice should follow up then. If not, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Thanks,

Bill

Hi Red (@ el Rojo),

We do not sell dryer vents through our Parts department, but your dealer should be able to assist you with this aftermarket purchase. Note: Marc said he's also seen black dryer vents which would match the black awning arms, etc., installed on our units :)

Note: Our first Solitude fifth wheels where designed for a combo washer/dryer; however, when we redesigned the front closet it included separating the washer and dryer. Now the front closet is designed for the washer to be installed on the curbside, and the dryer to be installed on the roadside (there is a label adhered to the inside front closet wall indicating where the dryer vent should be located). Please contact your dealer if you do not know which style of washer/dryer to install in your Solitude.

Best regards,
~ Janice

Thanks Janice. I'll look for a black one. I saw the label showing the dryer vent location. It's gonna hurt putting a big hole in the side of that rig!!!!!!!!LOL

Janice... What is considered an early model? I have #107 and have a washer/dryer combo on order to be installed February 3rd. I'm hoping that it will be an easy install.

Hi Jim & Kerry (@Gsport),

Congratulations and happy camping! Generally speaking, I don't believe this would be considered an early model change. Rather, we redesigned the Solitude fifth wheel front closet approximately mid-to-late March 2013 as part of our ongoing commitment in providing better products by focusing on and listening to our family of customers. Enjoy your new washer/dryer :)

Best regards
~ Janice

I would sure like to see a picture of the inside location where the washer/dryer is to be located. And a picture of one where the washer and dryer is separated.

It is a rather easy tell....

If you have the huge U shaped closet in the front, you have the newer version. If you have a standard closet on the left and a different door on the right, it is an early model.

This the front area of the a first gen Solitude.....

@huntr70, thanks for posting the photo!! :)

Hi Red (@el Rojo),

I need to make a correction... I was talking with our engineer this afternoon, and was advised you can either install a separate washer and dryer (as I described earlier) OR you can install a combo washer/dryer on the curbside of our redesigned u-shaped front closet. So if you didn't want to cut a hole in the sidewall you didn't have to :), as it will take a ventless combo washer/dryer. Hope this helps!

Best regards,
~ Janice

Well, I had it installed today.. The only rant I have about is.. The piece of filler wood that is between the doors that has to be removed, leaves a gap of about an inch now. Looks terrible, I've got to figure a way to close it up a bit. Other than that it fits and looks great in there.

My last 5ver the dealer installed the stackable that I'm moving to my solitude. They cut a vent hole and put the vent on matched nice. I've been in a group that have both types and most prefer the stackable to the combination. I used mine 1 time in my other unit and it worked great. What really makes it nice is that you can do all your laundry on short trips before you get home so you don't have to after you get there. The other for those full timers they say it takes forever with a combination unit. Really like the stackable. Believe it actually came from Sears .

Gsport-my installation guy took the filler wood piece and mounted it to the back of the left side folding door-looks great and works just fine. I put in a Spendide Combo vented, chrome vent cover outside, wife loves it, works great. I have 369RL # 0071

I kept the filler piece to do exactly that. Sounds like we've got the exact set up... #107 here

Wschoonv.. Well, I re-installed the filler piece to the back side of the door, as you did. It turned out great.

Can you post a picture? Very interested to see how the washer and dryer fits.

Thanks!
