I have a 2023 Solitiude 380FL-R. Wondering if there would be any downside to adding a bypass to the Flow-pur on board water filter so I can drain and remove the housing and just fill the rest of the system with antifreeze. The only downside I can think of is maybe the o-ring in the housing would dry out before the next use, but that could be overcome with some silicone grease.

No issues with doing that at all. Most systems don't come from the manufacturer with bypass but many people add them for convenience. Just remember to relieve the pressure from the system before putting it into bypass mode and removing the filter cartridge.

Good idea. When I experimented with winterizing recently I filled the filter housing first and it took maybe a 1/4 jug or more of antifreeze. That’s a lot of fluid used to fill a space.

I have a dual filter system at the city inlet so all water gets filtered before going into the RV. Then I have a separate filter on the cold water line at the sink which is what we use for drinking water. I always seemed to spill water when replacing the filter or removing it for winterization, so I started winterizing using air first without putting any filters in bypass mode. This pushes 3/4 of the water out of the canisters so when I remove them and put them into bypass mode I don't spill water from the canisters. It's an extra step, but it saves some clean up from spilled water. I then put them into bypass mode and run the usual RV antifreeze through the system. This way I'm not putting antifreeze through the filter cartridges.
