Adding strut assist to Morryde steps

I would like to add strut assist to my Morryde step. I can't seem to find any aftermarket strut kits.
It seems like you ought to be able to upgrade the steps. Really don't want to buy a new step with the strut option.
Has anyone out there updated their steps to strut assist?
I appreciate any input.

When I installed my steps, there was a kit to add a lift assist. I have one, but I have never installed it since the lift blocked access to one of our storage cabinets. I don't see that kit listed now though.

I found out why I can't find the lift assist anymore. See below.

Regarding your inquiry, the Lift assist has been discontinued as the new Solid Step 4.0 due to be released later this year, has it as standard equipment.
You may be able to source the discontinued parts with an internet search as it's possible dealers/Distributors may still have stock available.

Seems to me they ought to keep it in stock for the many that don't have it on their steps. I'm Not having much luck finding it anywhere.

Guess I don’t understand the need? The steps aren’t that heavy. Folding in my fifth wheel steps took more effort.
I would be interested to see how the strut is mounted.
