Additional AC

I have a 2021 Imagine 2600RB 30 foot trailer with one air conditioner. Has anyone installed a second AC in the bedroom overhead vent? I'm not concerned about installing electric power and AC controller, I can do all this myself. My thought is the additional AC will be nice but I want to connect the second AC to the AC vent in the bedroom, keep the living room AC off which will cut down on the AC noise in the living room. The second AC will have its own connection to the 120VAC at the campsite pedestal. It might seem like a lot of expense and work for this second AC but we volunteer with the national parks and were on the road al lot. thanks for all positive responses.

I’m not sure it’s feasible to connect to the ducting unless it’s already there. What model is your trailer?

Just my .02, but why add a second a/c? We’ve not needed one and we travel in 100* plus temperatures in the desert southwest. The single Furrion unit puts out plenty of cold air, it’s just a matter of getting it properly controlled via wall controller or after market thermostat. Seems to me, if you only use a bedroom a/c with the one vent, the rest of the rv will roast. We have the same camper and don’t find the a/c noise objectionable.

I would imagine the duct is there, a call to Grand Design would confirm. The hardest part is getting the ac unit on the roof.

Assuming the camper is wired 50amp, running both ac's cools the rig quick after a heat soak on the road. I will say my rear ac is not obnoxiously loud, but running the bedroom ac while sitting in the living room is much quieter.

"We’ve not needed one and we travel in 100* plus temperatures in the desert southwest." Obviously, you can stand warmer temperatures than I can. Jo Ann doesn't mind it if the temperature inside is over 80, but that is way too hot for me. We've settled on 75* inside as the temperature to close the windows and turn on the a/c - both of them. In the winter we go for 70* inside for the living area and 68* for the bedroom.

FWIW, we won't even consider an RV that doesn't have two air conditioners. With the normal ducting, when it is cool enough that one a/c can still handle it, having the bedroom a/c on during the day and the living room one on at night does help keep the noise level down some. True, you don't get all of the air flow , but a fan will help. When that isn't enough it is time to have both units running.

As everyone can see, I've only posted 22 times on this forum in the last 3.5 years and the questions have always been technical in nature and there is a reason for this. As can been read in my latest/above post, first sentence indicates the model number, 2600RB, and the second question clearly is asking "has anyone installed an AC in the bedroom overhead vent". In the meat of my question also informs one of the reasons why I'm considering adding a second AC, that is to cut down on the AC noise from the living room AC. This noise may not be objectionable to some or even most BUT to me it is me and an answer to this AC noise issue is to add a second AC in the bedroom. The one AC we have in the living room is adequate to cool down the camper although I did state additional AC might be nice it's not mandatory or even necessary, just wanting to reduce the living room noise. We are volunteering at a national park in southern Utah so we know heat is and what the temperature we need the inside. So conclude this "Quick Reply" I still don't have a reply to my question asked in the second sentence. "Talk" to everyone next time I have a technical question, they can and are comical.

I think you misunderstood. I meant we don’t need a second a/c.
We keep the inside temperature at 72*-73* in 100*+ temps with the OEM Furrion 14.5k a/c (after some control changes).

I think your missing his point. He does not care about lowering the temp inside the trailer or how cool your trailer is he care about the noise level. He asked about installing a 2nd a/c unit not if he needs it.

I have a 2600RB and thinking a bedroom AC would be nice.

1: Faster cooling after a hot day of traveling.
2: Run a smaller unit with my current 800 amps and 3K inverter if sleeping at night and it’s still hot out.

And now 3: You make a point about keeping cool with noise in the bedroom vs turning the TV loud to hear over the AC noise.

I did talk to a fellow that add one in his bedroom and he ran the AC line down into his compartment. He then has a 50 amp cable splitter with two 30 amp plugs. He plugs one to his bedroom AC and the other to the RV’s normal 30 amp Jack. So it can be done. I didn’t ask or know if he tied into the existing ductwork but that might not be a bad idea. So you give me a 3rd reason to consider doing a 2nd AC.
