Air Conditioner Starts Instead of Furnace

This is a strange one. I’ve been full timing in my 2018 Reflection 307MKS for several years now without any heating and air conditioning issues other than to replace the start capacitor in the main AC unit this summer. This morning it was chilly so I set the thermostat to heat and was very surprised when the main AC started up. I poked around a bit and noticed that the furnace also didn’t light and the AC fan continues to run. Plenty of propane. Never an issue until this morning.

Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Fan was inadvertently set to High instead of Auto. Why this kept the furnace from lighting remains a mystery but it works now. What a silly design.

I believe that the furnace will not fire up unless the thermostat is set to gas heat. If it is set to electric heat, and you have a heat pump as part of the air conditioner, then the air conditioner will come on but blow heat out. If you have the thermostat set on fan, the air conditioner will come on but only blow air that is not heated or cooled. Happy Camping!
