Any ham radio guys here? AC8ZL

That's how I found out about it - one of my POTA friends. So that's 2!!! Thanks for the reply!

Hi, N4LEW here, Larry.

I have a Yaesu FT-891 with the Buddy Stick vertical antenna. I put the antenna on 10 feet of flagpole mast off the ladder of the RV. I've worked many stations including working field day up in Ohio a couple of times. Very happy with the setup, although I recently purchased the ATAS-120A auto tumer antenna and am looking forward to trying that this summer when we are at OBX.

I've got an FT-891 in my truck (which I only run QRP) and an ATAS-120A mounted at the front of the bed on a Breedlove mount. It works fine. Obviously, the antenna is a based loaded vertical with a short whip, so I'm not in contention for winning any major contests, but I've done dozens of POTA activations and even at 5W I've never had a problem. I'm told that the critical issue for the ATAS-120A is a REALLY good ground; mine is attached to the truck bed which seems to work fine.

I'm getting ready to leave on a 3-week trip to Florida, which will include Hamcation, Fort Wilderness, Kennedy Space Center, and a bunch of POTA activations. Most of the time my radio setup will be out on a park bench, but if I want to operate at the dinette table I just realized I don't know how I'm going to bring the coax into the RV. I'm not opposed to a permanent bulkhead connector pass-thru, but I don't know where that would go.

How do you guys bring the coax in?

Thanks very much,

Our rig has an external TV connector (no build in TV on the outside) and it terminates under one of the dinette benches. We never watch TV outside, so I just replaced the F-connector with a coax bulkhead connector, and presto, a waterproof outside ham radio connector :)

KY4BX here. When we retire for good in a couple years and are able to take longer camping excursions, I plan to keep a rig in the big rig. I do a lot of POTA (so far 537 activations from 391 different POTA entities from 40 different states (a good number of those states were during work travel). I've also activated all 231 of the Georgia POTA entities & 101 of the 126 in Alabama.

Here is my boondocking POTA rig.
