Good evening. We are entering our third camping season and after 2 mattress switches, my wife is asking if we can put in a Sleep Number mattress in our Imagine. We have a SN in our home and absolutely love the sleep that we get with this product.

I do have some concerns and I wanted to put it out there to see if any other owners have a Sleep Number in their rigs who can provide some information.

1) Did you install just a mattress? Any bases installed?

2) How did you handle the power and compressor?

3) Any "extra" moisture issues (other than the normal moisture issues)?

4) Any concerns with the heat (summer months) to take into consideration?

5) Any concerns with the cold months? How do you store it (empty/50% or 100%)?

Thank you in advance!

We have a residential queen size in our Imagine. Love it. Just the mattress, no base. Power from the outlet in a cubby next to the bed, holds compressor too. Ours is wireless remote. There are silica packs underneath. But haven’t seen any signs of moisture. No concern with heat or cold. It stays on our individual pressures year round.

We just put ours on the platform after removing the old mattress. It is happy that way.

There are outlets near the bed so I just plug it into one of them, the compressor fits on the floor between the bed and the nightstand in our trailer.

I haven’t noticed any moisture issues.

We have had no problems using it in hot weather, but we always get full hookups so the Air Conditioner is normally running if it is hot.

We have not had any problems with storing it, we are in FL so we haven’t had any really cold weather.

We put a SN in ours. As I recall I had to wire a 120v outlet in the storage area under the plywood platform.

We just put ours on the plywood platform.

No issues and we like the mattress.

Fittingly - the original Denver mattress ended up in a dumpster in Denver.

We bought the RV Queen for our other 5er when they 1st came out, had to buy from CW as they had an exclusive deal with SN at the time, about 2012. we just put it on the plywood , drilled a hole from the underbed storage for the air tubes & cord.
On the 397 the same mattress is on the Happijac top bed. its smaller than the bed frame so has enough room for the pump at end of bed

Two things.

One:

Beware of the hinges on the lid of the bed platform. You want to make sure they can't wear a hole in the bottom of the mattress.

I use a vent pad under my mattress to prevent mold and mildew.

Before that, I glued carpet to the plywood, covering the hinges.

Two:

Be sure to DEFLATE the mattress, if you are traveling in the summer or through the mountains.

Elevation and temperature changes are NOT your friend!

I have used sleep number for over 10 years without any issues summer or winter. It stays in the camper all seasons. I plug in to set pressures for each side then unplug to maintain constant. I didn't use a special base.

We have had our SN mattress for over 20 years, through two RVs and a stationary home in between. We bought it when they were still being called Sleep Number, instead if it's new name Select Comfort. It's held up very well and is still comfortable, even after all these years. In our old trailer, our first one, it required an RV, or short, queen which worked well and was perfect on the old mattress platform. We fit the compressor under the bed after hubby drilled a small hole for the hoses to fit through. Then we were in a stationary home, for which hubby built a platform bed for it to fit on.

Now in our new Grand Design trailer, we removed the specially made queen mattress it came with and placed our short queen SN mattress on the platform. It is in the slide-out and the mattress that came with the trailer had a fold up end so when the slide was retracted, the mattress wasn't in the way. We replaced it with our SN mattress. We have to remove some air in order to fold up the bottom to retract the slide but that's not a problem for us. If we are in some really cold temps, like it's been where we've been spending the winter in Central Texas, the air will come out and then it needs to be pumped back up for sleeping. The compressor is in a box next to the bed on the floor. We just make it work.
