We are just starting out our RV journey and picking up our 2018 Grand Design Reflection 303 end of March (currently winterized at dealer). Am going to upgrade handrail, and was thinking about changing out the steps, but $1000 seems pricey when we haven't even tried the manufacturer steps, so may wait on them. Any other thoughts or recommendations for getting started? And continuing? We're going to do a few short overnights, then gear up for taking RoVer to Vermont for the summer minus a possible long-haul trip to the Badlands mid/late summer.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome!
The youtube channels for KYD (Keep your Daydream) and Changing Lanes (among others) have some great getting started info - go to their pages and search for tips, pointers, getting started, etc.

Welcome!! Be sure to test ALL the systems before leaving the dealer. Keep the notepad handy and list All warranty items you can find while out. If possible even try camp driveway before the big trip. Try out the steps but keep in mind the OEM are narrower than the doorway I'm short and found the spacing awkward on the trailers at the RV show this year. (we love our TorqLift step)

Check out the Reference seection here, there is a list made by one of our members for starting out
By the way, you selected a great floor plan :)

Welcome to the forum, our great members have offered you some good tips already. Let us know how we can help. As @WhittleBurner said, be sure you have a good checklist and check everything before leaving the dealer.
