Anyone use Garmin RV890?

Trying to figure out how to change the route if the suggested route takes me on a path I don't want. Not referring to general settings. For example, if the GPS sends me down the freeway and there's a section of side road I want to take instead, is there any way I can modify the route and have it saved in my saved trip route?

If nobody knows, I'll have to reach out to Garmin...Thanks.

I use Garmin Basecamp to create my routes and can create a waypoint on the secondary road to get the route to go on the secondary road. I think the same thing can be done in the trip planner on the GPS itself, I don’t have the time to look at it right now to try it, just poke around in trip planner on the GPS and you should find it if it is indeed there.

Press on the screen where you want to go instead of the route the GPS planned for you. Select "Shape Route" at the bottom of the screen.... done.....

or......
press on the screen where you want to go instead of the route the GPS planned for you, press "GO", then "Addas Next Stop"..... done....

Ok, I'll play around with that again. I tried pressing on a different road and holding it a few seconds but I didn't see options for Shape Route or anything. Will try again, maybe I just wasn't doing it correctly. Thanks.

It isn't so much as press and hold on the screen as it is just a tap. I probably used a bad choice of words to begin with.
