If I'm reading the TCL Roku website correctly some of the TCL 32" TV's will do live TV pause on Digital over the air broadcast.
We have a cheap ONN TV in our current camper and it has it and it works well.
You put a 16 GB stick in the USB slot and set it up.
We pick up our used 2020 XLS 22 MLE tomorrow and was curious if it has it.
Thanks.

The TCL Ruku TVs can do this, but to my knowledge the standard TCL do not. I can say for sure the one that came in our 2020 definitely couldn't.

Okay thanks. Our's has the 32" Roku TV and it has a USB port. I guess I'll find out tomorrow after we pick it up.
First item will be installing our WDH hitch when we get home. Then all the other stuff.
For crying out loud it's like moving when you trade trailers. LOL Thanks for the reply.

YES! We still have a couple boxes in the underbelly storage full of things from our last one that haven't gotten a new home yet because I either need to do a mod or we want to stow them differently! :ohwell:

Our 49" TCL Roku will do live pause but it stopped working after a while. I did a search and learned it eats flash drives. I tried a second flash drive and it failed after a week or two as well. I didn't do any further research to figure out a solution but it did work for a while.

If you're just using a thumb drive for this they won't last long at all. Those drives aren't made for that sort of duty cycle.

Flash memory has a finite number of write cycles before it fails. The way pausing live tv works would have the tv constantly writing to the drive, so I'm not surprised it burns through them. Get an old fashioned spinning disk and it will hold up much better. They obviously have a finite life too, but it's much much longer.

You could also use an SSD, but they're more expensive, you can't take advantage of the speed they offer in this use case, and will ultimately fail like the thumb drives for the same reason.

This is an interesting find. If you can pause the live TV show, can you also fast forward?

Since it sounds like this 'east up' Flash drives (and likely SSDs too) how about just a normal hard drive? Maybe there is a way to record shows too?

A regular hard drive should be fine.

I found out that our TLC won't do live pause with the USB. And can't find anything in the manual for that.
So I guess ours is a no go.
But I did buy and over the air "TV antennae DVR"
I'll hook that up and do it that way. .

Bummer... Mine doesn't either. I'm not sure if it's a roku tv function or what. My tv is not a roku tv.

It works on our Roku TCL TV but you need a fairly fast USB drive. The 1st cheap / slow ones I tried caused a lot of issues just watching TV without pausing, the SanDisk ones are working fine

I have the 32 inch Roku TLC it has that option but my problem is every time I plug the trailer power the TV turns on automatically. I can’t find any option to stop that. I put a second TLC TV in the bedroom and that one doesn’t do it.
