Aqua Magic II toilet flush pedal
TOILET TROUBLE.
Toilet finally gave trouble on our 2018 2500 Imagine. Getting camper ready for last trip. I stepped on the flush pedal and something snapped, popped and now doesn’t work. Pedal now does nothing. I can reach in the bowl and turn waste ball. But the pedal does nothing now. Any ideas on how to fix this would greatly be appreciated. Help!

Been there, done that. You'll have to tear it apart to see what broke, probably the waste ball drive arm kit (#10 in this pic; https://www.thetford.com/part/aqua-magic-style-ii/) . Replacement parts are available but probably easier to replace the entire toilet. I tried to repair mine (no joy), then looked for replacement parts to no avail, ended up getting a new toilet under warrantee.

I have tried to rebuild several toilets...never had any luck. It's a pain to get the spring back on, but I've done it several times. I just replace the whole toilet now.

Yep, that's what we had to do - just buy a new one.

Is there a temporary work around to get the toilet flushing until I get parts?

The problem with Thetford is the pedal snaps into the toilet base. Held only by a ring molded into the plastic that snaps into a groove. The plastic ring wears away and the pedal separates such that the spring and flush ball connection disengage. Happened to a two year old Thetford in another brand trailer we owned. As a temporary fix, I was able to capture the spring and ball lever back in their correct holes in the pedal and use a web strap wrapped around the toilet base and pedal to hold the pedal in place. It’s not easy deciding which holes to use or to get the spring and lever in place, but it can be done. I replaced it with a Dometic 310. Then when we bought our current Imagine 3100RD, the very first mod was to immediately replace the OEM Thetford. Good luck.

We too have the AMII toilet and have a small leak in the water valve- just a few (fresh water) dribbles when we press the pedal. I found a YouTube video that described changing this valve as “easy”. Then later the same YouTuber posted another video saying the original fix didn’t work so he ended up replacing the entire base. For now we have a small towel at the base of the toilet. Not sure if I want to attempt replacing the valve, base or entire toilet.

Swapping an RV toilet is rather easy. Usually it means taking measurements to make sure the replacement fits, and having parts to adapt the water piping. A 12” SS braided 1/2” FPTx1/2”FPT hose and 1/2”MPT 1”brass nipple made adapting the existing water line to the new toilet (Dometic 310) easy. You can install a suitable shutoff valve instead of the nipple if you prefer.

If it was me I'd just replace the base, that's the money part and the bowl separates easily.
