The Solera awning on my 2021 GD Imagine 22MLE does not initially extend. When I push the Awning Extend button on the control panel, I hear clicking noises but the awning does not extend. If I manually start the awning at the motor, extending the awning about four inches, then push the Awning Extend button it will extend okay. If I retract it all the way the same problem reoccurs when I go to Extend it. If I retract it within six inches of being fully retracted, I can push the Awning Extend button and it will work fine again. Has anyone else had this problem?

Clicking sounds like a skipping drive gear

Can you take the cover off and see if anything is loose

I will check next time I get the RV in two weeks. Why would the gear skip only when initially extending the awning when it is completely closed?

RichardRV Did you figure what the problem was? I haven't used my awning since last year and went to extend it and it wouldn't move. I just started troubleshooting this and not sure if I have the same exact issue. I manually extended it a few inches and then was able to extend it. I'm wondering if there's a cut or corrosion in the wiring.

If you have an aluminum cover on the awning the weight can cause it to not extend without a little encouragement. Also I would check the arm alignment. if the extending arm is not centered it can bind when fully retracted.

Talking with others I concluded there was a bad point in the motor. I ordered a new motor but it had the wrong connector end (two styles are available) so I returned it. Currently I am using the old motor and either don't retract the awning all the way unless traveling or I just carry a ladder with me and manually get the awning extended a bit before using the power button to extend it further.
