We've had high winds and/or rain for several weeks, but it was very nice today, so after lunch I decided to put the awnings out and let them dry. I got the front awning about halfway out when it fell apart. Upon inspection, the roller is held to the arm by three sheet metal screws. All three were missing (probably due to some very rough roads). Fortunately we're in a very friendly rv park and the neighbor came over with a handful of screws. Ten minutes later all was good. Judging by the shape of one hole, I'm guessing that two screws have been missing for some time and the third one was elongated because it was the only screw left. We checked the rear awning and one screw was missing there, too.
One more thing to add to the inspection list.
