Has anyone had any of their awning deploy on them while traveling down the road? We have had our 397th since 2020. We have not had this happen but people have told us to find a way to strap them (the awnings) when we are towing it so they don’t come out. Is this really an issue with these models? And, if so, how do you strap them?

It does happen, but seems to be very rare. Of course if it happens to you it's not rare enough. :) I don't worry about it and don't strap ours, on any of our trailers. But that's just me.

To be honest, I was a bit concerned about that myself. This is the first power awning we have owned. The old manual awnings had a lever that was flipped up to lock and prevent the awning from unfurling until the lever was flipped back down. I wondered if the spring mechanism in these new awnings is strong enough to keep the awning from unfurling in high winds going down the road (maybe they don't even have a spring mechanism anymore). But I never strapped it up and so far no issues going across the Country and back.

I think if the motor head would come off the rod it would be possible or a short in the system. Imagine looking in you mirror just before entering a tunnel and seeing your awning open. Outch

Not as bad as pulling out of your driveway, looking in your drivers side mirror and not being able to see anything because you forgot to put your slide out in. Don’t ask me how I know?
