Ok,
2022 GD 260RD. Has OneControl, setup the app, got that working okay....couple of minor hiccups here and there. I wanted to setup the backup camera. Tried adding it to the app using the QR code like I did with ONeControl. I was only able to get it to show the backup camera once.....

My question, do I have to have the 7 way plug hooked up to power up the camera to make it connect? OR am I missing something....tried Youtubing it and it was less than informative...unless I'm looking at the wrong video......

I am missing something simple? Usually I can research stuff and get it figured out....same thing with the TireLink. Not figuring that out either.

Here is what I learned in using the camera. NOTE, that NONE of the people at the dealership could make the camera work. Lippert could not make it work. I had to figure this out on my own....

So the ONLY way to make the camera work is to EVERY TIME I back up:
1). Disconnect my phone from whatever wifi network it is on
2). Open the app
3). Receive an error that wi-fi is not connected.
4). Make sure my headlights are on.
5) Manually connect wi-fi on my phone Directly to the camera
6). Open app and connect camera
7). Receive error from app that I am in driving mode and then have to go into the trailer and turn on the interior lights to over-ride
8). Attempt again to re-connect the app to the camera.
9). Get back into my truck and back up the trailer.

Wow....ok. I did learn that I had to hook up the 7 way pin to get further ahead, but no way could I get it to connect. Maybe the 7 inch monitor would be the better option at this point.....

After trying and failing/or not doing it correctly, I ended up buying the ONEControl LCD Display.

Of course there are no instructions in the box.....go figure.

After trying to get it figured out, I went to the Lippert site and found the instructions manual and it was easy and quick to setup the LCD display. Suction cupped it to the windshield just above the center of the dash. It works well for what it is. Are there better systems....yes.....but I really do not want to spend much more effort or time to try to go through the app. I'm probably going to have enough of trying to get the tire pressure system setup.

The display has the backup lines on it. #2 son helped me set the angle for the camera so it has a decent look down to it and to get the camera connected to the display. The microphone works well with the speaker on the display. It is 720x480 resolution so that's what it is. Not terrible, it gets the job done.

The big trip is coming up, so I'm hoping all works well when the time comes. Thank you for the replys and assistance.

Glad you were able to get it to work. We ended up replacing ours with an AMTIFO camera, which works great.

A while after I posted that video, I had my 5th wheel at a dealership to have the roof replaced. I asked the service manager if they had many complaints about that camera (mine worked but was still very temperamental) and he basically said that I just didn’t know what I was doing and added that they don’t support it because it’s always a phone issue. I showed him the video and he changed his tune.

I asked him to request a Furrion camera replacement since he was already submitting two other warranty claims - what could it hurt right? He said there was no way Grand Design would replace it. At best they might give me a display or possibly credit me $100 towards a different camera. Well, he was wrong again. When I picked the trailer up, the service writer handed me a box with a display in it. He said this was for my new Furrion camera.

That's sort of what happened to us. The Furrion wireless camera that was on the trailer when we bought it new never worked. It used the phone as a monitor, and as long as the phone was near the camera we could see an image. Of course, Jo Ann watching the rear of the trailer and talking to me on the radio worked better. I asked the dealer about it when we were there in January, and they said there were lots of issues with our setup and Furrion was authorizing replacements, so we got a replacement. Worked great for six weeks. Then we parked for three months, and couldn't get it to work. At this point I'm done with Furrion, and will be replacing the whole Furrion system with something better.

The Insight camera by Lippert (One Control) was installed on our 2022 260RD. I bought the LCD Display for the Insight camera on sale at the Lippert website. It is not perfect but has worked pretty darn well for 2 seasons now. Every once in a while, it will freeze or distort. But 99% of the time it works as advertised. I don't have a camera for my 27-foot horse trailer and feel naked without the it. I had to turn the sound down due to excessive road noise.

Will have to check that out as well. Someone mentioned it was annoying hearing the road noise if it's on all the time.

It was a bit annoying, so we turned the volume down. On the positive side, I left my hot water heater on and heard the insistent beeping through the microphone of the backup camera. We stopped and turned it off. Camera helped us out that way.
