Hi All,

We have a 2022 imagine 26RB camper and noticed that our front storage doors are bowed out from the center. When we close them the latches are tight however we discovered water inside there after a rainstorm. I emptied the area out, cleaned and dried the water then has my wife close the doors while I was inside and noticed a fair amount of light coming in from the lower corners and up toward the top on each side and also along the bottom toward the latch. As I look on the outside I can now see them bowing out.

Has anyone had a similar situation and if so what were you able to do that would correct it? I feel like I can just put something in the middle and push down on the lower side corners but I'm concerned about breaking the doors.

Any thoughts or advice would be welcome.

Thanks.

Greg

I would be afraid of breaking off pushed to hard. Would a peel and stick d seal keep the water out?

Good thought. I'm not sure as I would have to see how much I would need. the gasket Grand Design supplies is pretty thick already.

Wonder if this issue has something to do with the "slam" style door latches?

On our 2019, the keyed lock is located in the middle, and the old twist style locks supports are near the sides of the bottom of the doors. IMO, the older style allows more even seal pressure on the door frame thus less chance of warpage.

Had that happen. I put a knee at the latch and bent the doors flat. Doesn't take a lot just take your time. Been good for years now.

I wondered if that might work as I was thinking about doing the same thing. I'm curious if the door bow out as a result of the slam latch as Trailrydr mentioned above. I will have to give it a try and I suppose slow is better as I don't want to actually break the doors.

I'm not sold on the idea it's the slam latches. We have been slamming both sides for 10 yes now and no bowing in all that time.

Curious..... Have there been any reports of the older style doors with both center and twist locks bowing out? I havent heard of any.... in 30 years of having them - that werent manufacturing defects noticed at purchase or misuse/theft related.

We don't have a center cam lock on either slam door, both slam latches have locks. The front compartment has a center lock with 2 that don't lock on the sides.
There have been some warp reports but nothing outrageous over the years.

My cargo door on the road side was warped with the ends sticking out about 3/4 of and inch. I called Grand Design about something else entirely. She asked me to email pics of the door, and the sticker on the door. Two days later she said that Lippert approved a new door and one arrived about 1 week later. I was out of warrenty but about a month but they still covered it. I could have taken it to a dealer, but why waste the time? Took about 45 to an hour minutes to replace. Next time my wife can do the caulking though. I suck at it....
