Battery monitor

I have a Reflection 303rls with better compartment in the front bay under the nose. I would like to have the range also to monitor the shunt from the truck cab. Thanks for the tip!

I can't comment on the Victron Smart Shunt as I don't have one, but with ours using the battery BMS Bluetooth, I can monitor the batteries inside our truck while towing at 65 mph or anywhere inside our RV. It's got a pretty far range. Works great !

Tami and I both have the Battery App on our Iphones but only one can sign in at a time if you want all the information. The batteries are in the front storage compartment of our 5th wheel.

It is Something to think about if you want to be able to connect through Bluetooth to a shunt while inside your tow vehicle or at a pretty far range.

I purchased the Victron BMV-712 through Battleborn - maybe overkill as I never use the gauge, just the app. However, I can pick BT up from inside my house - probably 70' away from the side of the trailer - even through garage door and house door to garage. Pretty strong but a bit more $$.

When I bought the Battleborn lithium battery I didn't opt for the Bluetooth option brings the price....wished I had now. I guess coulda woulda shoulda

Lots of people use the Victron and therefore, there should be a lot of experience that can be shared with the range. I am only one so let's hope others share their experience.

I have the 500 also and agree with Soundsailor....my reception seems about the same although I have never really tested it for distance but have never had any issues in or around the trailer

Where is the shunt installed? I'm getting ready to install one in my 23LDE. Was planning to mount it on tongue adjacent to battery, but then saw in Victron manual that the unit is not waterproof?

Mine is in the front storage pass through, but the Smart Shunt 500 IP65 is water and dust resistant so I would think it would be fine on the tongue
