Quick new guy question: what's the better sequence for installing parts on a new TV: pin box or bed liner first?

Thanks!!

I had my hitch installed by a truck store and they put the hitch in before the bed liner. Not sure if it was the better way, but they claimed it was the better way to do it.

If you are planing on the spray in liner, get that installed first. It needs to cure before putting in 5th wheel rails (if you are using bed rails). The rails can go over the liner. They can also spray around the rails, but it is just more prep work to do that.

If it is a plastic bedliner, they can get cut to fit around the rails. The rails can not installed over a plastic bedliner.

If it is a through the bed mount hitch, where you are just cutting holes in the bed, then it can be done however you want it done.

I have the spray in bed liner and had it done first. Just made sense to me to have it sprayed first.

I don't have the TV yet, but I'm hoping it doesn't have anything pre-installed. I'd rather get that done at a towing place I trust.

Thanks all, for the inputs!

spray in bedliner first! I would highly recommend a 5th wheel prep package if you are buying new.

If you put bed rails over the spray in liner (which is the usual sequence), remember to have any bolts that go through the box re-torqued after a couple of weeks. The liner will slowly compress and it will take up to half a turn on the bolts to regain specified torque. I checked mine again after a month and they had not relaxed any further.

I don't know if it's too late on this thread, but if you check out some of the newer trucks from Ram and Ford, they both have a 5th Wheel Prep package available. It means that you can get a 5th Wheel hitch that will drop right into the truck - bedliner or no. Since it's a factory system rigged to the frame, it's about as good as it gets.

I just saw that your signature has an added 2014 Ram Laramie Mega Cab 3500 DRW. If you did get the 5th Wheel prep kit, you can look at a list of the available options I'm keeping updated at http://www.ramgunner.com/ram5thwheel.htm
