I have a Reflection 323 BHS and I think the master bedroom slide is not closing quite far enough at the bottom of the slide. Can someone please post a picture of the bottom of your bedroom slide while closed? Thanks Bill

Good morning Bill!
McClain RV in Rockwall TX has a picture of our 337RLS with a similar condition, although it was only the bottom corner at the front. We dealt with the slide having difficulty closing the last inch or two for a couple of months, with me (Steve) pushing the outside and Lynne operating the control. I communicated with Dean Brovont who sent me printouts of LCI diagnostic sheets and controller programming instructions. This helped for a bit, but soon the slide refused to close completely. We took the unit to McClain's for ou Atwood furnace inoperative, they changed out the furnace control board (twice, bad part), and diagnosed the slide issue as stripped gears. They ordered parts through LCI, it took at least two weeks for them to arrive, but unit was fixed in a day. I know you asked for just a picture, but I have wanted to post this for a couple of weeks to ask the community if anyone else has has Schwintek slide issues.
McClain's has the commitment to highest priority service form posted in their service writeup area and another copy in the customer waiting lounge. They delivered on their part of the promise, we were treated well in a quick time frame as soon as parts arrived.

Bill -
I have the Schwintek slide mechanism in the bedroom of my 337.
The third time the slide was extended, it did not come in straight, or all the way.
I recycled it several times and it eventually came in almost all the way.
When I had it back to the dealer, they worked on it. They ultimately said they found a piece of construction debris blocking the slide track.
There are some videos on YouTube about how to re-synchronize the Schwintek slides to correct the condition you are experiencing.
If you can't find them, I'll see if I can. I suspect there are a couple of other threads here on the Forum on this subject. You can search "Schwintek" to find them probably.

Thanks for the replys. My slide works fine, however the rubber bubble seal at the bottom of the slide is hardly compressed when in the closed position. I have no water leaks but can fit a finger under the lower slide trim easily. The top of the slide definately closes 1" tighter than the bottom. Perhaps I should leave well enough alone? Suggestions?

Bill--attached couple pics from our 303. We too thought this lower area protruding out more than the top was an issue but GDRV reviewed along with dealer doing warranty work last fall and said was OK. Still seems top and bottom s/b same in my way of thinking.

Ours is out more at the bottom than at the top, but maybe half of what Dan's pictures show. I asked about this at PDI and was told this is normal. Our curb side slide is out at the bottom more than either of the other two . . . about an inch . . . but dealer says this is OK too.

X2 - what Rob said for my unit on the Schwintek bedroom slide. The other two large slides both close completely on my unit.

Fortunately the main electric slides are very easy to adjust to get then the same top and bottom, side to side. I think that the Schwintek slide can be adjusted to be the same top and bottom though it's a much more complicated as in disassembly of both drives. The side to side squareness is the accomplished with synchronization of the 2 motors.

Has anyone measured Schwintek slide when it's fully extended to see if that same difference exists top to bottom as does when it's closed?

Dave

I will take measurements on ours in the AM and share them, as it has new gear "racks" in all four positions on the outside of the slide. From memory, the rubber is evenly compressed top to bottom and front to rear (hope you can visualize what I'm saying)! The rubber compression is, in my opinion, the critical factor in figuring whether the slide is properly retracted.

Sorry I'm late with our data! Our measurements are on our bedroom slide, fully in- bottom 1-1/2" Wall to outside of square cap, top 1-1/4". Rubber seal on side of slide is equally compressed from top to bottom.

When McClain's in Rockport, TX replaced our rack gears on the sides of the slide, the teeth at the ends were chewed up- not the outer ends you can see. I don't think we ever got way off from side to side so my belief is that the heat treating that Schwintek talks about may be variable!

I will take comparison measurrments. Starting to look like there is nothing wrong. Thanks again!

My 337 bedroom slide failed after approximately 10 in/out cycles from new. When closed the slide remains out about 2" on the bottom and 1 1/2" at the top. I did the synchro of the two motors according to the Schwintek video but to no avail. Will return to the dealer week of 14th for repair.

Dealer repaired the bedroom slide, said it needed to be re-synced. I doubted that was the only problem because I had already performed the re-sync. Performed several in/out actuations at the house and all seemed fine. Went on a planned one week trip. First night we camped, bedroom slide failed to extend. Tried multiple actuations of the switch, nothing. Waited awhile, tried the extend switch, slide extended slightly. After several more in/out attempts the slide finally went out. Spent the night but decided to cancel the remainder of the trip and came home. Jerry at GD thinks it is a short in the system or a loose/ broken wire connection/connector. Back to the dealer again today.

With so many Schwintek slides on the road, you'd think that any self respecting, high quality dealership parts department would be stocking a couple of Schwintek motors.

My 323BHS has Schwintek slides in the bunkhouse and the front bedroom (closet). The two larger slides are Lippert built slides. Schwintek has recently been purchased by Lippert. Mine seem to be operating okay, and app cracks when closed are about 1".

This is my first Schwintek and so far I am not impressed. It appears to be overly sensitive to timing and uneven movement. I understand the concept as to not wanting one side of the slide to move out of symetry with the other but it appears to be very sensitive to anything it senses as abnormal movement and shuts down. When it shuts down; if its in, your trip is ruined. If its out, you "may" be able to get it in by performing the controller bypass procedure. If the bypass procedure fails, you need to disconnect the motor leads and get three/four of your best (and strong) campground buddies to stand on ladders ( if you have them) and manually push it in. In either case, a real pain plus it cost me deposit money I had down on my next stop. I much prefer a slide I can get in/out with a manual crank if need be.

Interesting. What year model and number is your 323 BHS? My bunk house slide is has the Lippert package. Only the BR slide is Schwintek. All my slides are nice and even.

Getting very frustrated. Took back to dealer AGAIN to troubleshoot the BR slide(four hour round trip). Dealer says the wiring harness on the #2 motor (aft motor on the street side) is chafed possibly causing a short/bad ground to the motor. Sounds plausable given the total intermitent nature of the problem. Hope they have diagnosed this thing correctly. Currently awaiting a new wire harness from GD. We have had our unit at the dealer longer than we have had it out actually camping and thats with me having fixed a number of bugs/defects/replacements myself. GD has been responsive so far but my confidence in the quality of the unit is certainly being tested.

Mine was built the third week of July, 2014 and it's a 2015 model--serial 2444. Only problem I've experienced as far as I know is there is a small leak out of the back gray water valve handle. Everything else has worked fine.

There are good tutorials on UTube on the Schwentek sliders--and how to replace motors, etc.
