Bedroom Window Problem

My rig has the standard vertical lift window (I think it's called Teardrop) which my wife struggles to open because it takes two hands, and you must evenly lift both sides - or it wedges and jams up. This is especially frustrating for her in the middle of the night when it's dark. Any ideas how to rectify this? Maybe I can replace the window with a "hand crank" or "push-out" solution like a mini emergency egress window? Any ideas about a solution would be most helpful.

Thank you for the support and advice!

They put the vertical lift windows in the slides so you don't accidently pull in the slides with the window out. I would recommend against changing them unless you can figure out a way to make them swing in. And yes, they are a pain........

Is the window in a slide? If not, it's very likely you can find another that would fit. Okay, maybe not "likely" but possible. :)

Hello!

No slide however, Gpo1958 raises an interesting point. If the door swings all the way open, then the two would collide. Dang!

I did notice however, the metal tray mounted to the glass is to the far right and not centered - creating friction against the window frame. I wonder if I can disassemble and re-center it on the glass. Unfortunately, it appears the metal tray (that holds the spring-loaded locks) may be press-fit to the glass.

I wonder if it's possible to design a mechanism akin to windows in the home that essentially require a single center latch and remove the two on the edges. With that, at least she could unlock with one hand and lift. It would still bind but maybe lifting from the center would help. The next problem would be figuring out how the window would stay up!

BTW, I did email pictures to GD showing the off-center tray mounted to the glass. Hoping they can send me ideas too.
