Members widely recommend portable battery-powered air compressors for RV tire inflation, with Milwaukee, DeWalt, Ryobi, and Ridgid being the most popular brands. Milwaukee’s 18V models receive the most praise for their ability to inflate both truck and trailer tires—some users report easily reaching pressures up to 110 psi and appreciate programmable presets for different tire needs. DeWalt and Ridgid are also favored, especially by those already invested in their respective tool ecosystems... More...
I got this one based on the reviews and form factor (easy to store). Not a good choice. It works for one or two tires (adding 7lbs or so) then overheats. it needs 30-40min to cool down before it will turn on again. Don't recommend this one from Zuzee Amazon.com

After hearing the reviews on the Ryobi, I will pick that one up since I live in their ecosystem.

is anyone using a portable battery air compressor (like the RYOBI) to air up your RV tires? If so, which one are you using?
I have the Ryobi because I have other cordless Ryobi tools, but it’s not great. The one that I have has two outputs: one for high pressure (tires, etc) and another one for high volume (pool toys, air mattresses, etc). It has the digital gauge and automatically shuts off when it hits the target pressure.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t have an overheat sensor, and can overheat in the amount of time it takes to air up a tire (particularly a spare tire that might be really low). I cooked my first one by accident, and it didn’t take very long. Now I set a timer for 10 minutes whenever I use it. My cheap wired Harbor Freight inflator has an overheat sensor, so I’m not sure why the Ryobi doesn’t.

Also, the digital pressure gauge on mine is off by 4 psi now, after a couple years.

I'm using the Dewalt. Works great. Set the pressure you want and walk away. It will shut off when done. But...what batteries, if any, do you have now? Buy the unit that works with your batteries. All the inflators work. It's not new technology so they got it pretty figured out by now.

I have used the Viair (RV version) for several years and it has worked very well. I cut off the battery clips and installed a 7 pin connector so I could plug it into the back of my truck. I installed an extra 7 pin receptacle on the back of my truck that has 40 amps of 12 volt power. This extra 7 pin connector is controlled by the Upfitter switch in the cab.

Last year I decided to convert to the Milwaukee family of tools and my most recent purchase is the 18v Inflator. It is very good and is simple to operate.

Bottom line: choose the inflator that uses the batteries you already have.
