Members shared several practical solutions for installing a DVD player in a 397 or similar RV layout, focusing on minimizing setup hassle. The most popular suggestions include placing the DVD player in a nearby pantry or cabinet adjacent to the TV, with some RVers drilling a hole for HDMI and power cables to keep the setup tidy and permanent. Using Velcro strips—especially command strips—behind the TV was also recommended for easy access and removal without damaging surfaces.

One... More...

Could someone with a 397 or similar floorplan give me a suggestion for a location for a DVD player for the main TV. My old brain just cant find a good location and I don't want to have to set it up every time I want to use which isn't much.
I didn't realize that a DVD player wasn't OEM like my old Jayco was.

I looked up the floor plan. It seems there’s a pantry adjacent to the television.
If so, and you can spare a little space, you could put it there.

In my 22MLE, there’s a small cabinet to the right of the television when looking at the wall. Our Blu-Ray is 10” wide and about 9” deep plus the HDMI cable.
The HDMI end fits thru a 1” hole, so using a forstner bit and wood block for backing, I drilled thru the luan and ran the HDMI cable and power to the television.
The Blu-Ray sits on a small stand I built in the cabinet.
There’s just enough room to close the door and the HDMI cable bends smoothly without kinks.

This might work for you too.
Another option is to drill down thru the cabinet above.
What’s in there?

Velcro it behind the TV.

Swing the TV out of the way to put DVD in or take out.

The command velcro strips are my best friend for things like that. You can remove them without tearing anything up.

Hi. Not sure what sound system came with your 397. I have a 2018 Reflection 29RS. The factory Furrion DV3300 sound system will play a DVD on the main cabin TV. I only learned this recently, previously assuming it was for CD's only. Prior to learning that I was putting a compact DVD player in the right side upper cabinet above the TV. So happy I don't have to do that any more. Hope that helps. -T

On our previous Jayco the dvd was thru the Jensen system. I have the rockford/fosgate system now. I decided on the portable dvd player simply because I don't watch that many movies and really didn't want to cut a mounting hole
