I've got a 2022 Imagine with the black rubber front cap (think it is rubber). The entire area has very noticeable oxidation or blotchy film. I've tried rubbing compound, oxidation remover and other sorts of cleaners / waxes and all that seems to do is add more blotches. I tried a black restoration product that cleans but is hard to get an even look. Now I've got a mess.

Any ideas on what might work?

Thanks

You have an Imagine xls. Isn’t that all a decal?

The Imagine line has a painted front cap not “rubber” like you describe

The more you tow it the more it will become bug encrusted and you won't see the blotches.

Mine is also a 22mle. The front cap on mine has a base layer of something like a wrap or adhesive film. The Imagine logo and others are an additional stick on graphic. I have lots of spots where bugs and highway rocks have chipped clear through to a white substrate. I just clean it an let it ride. If I was worried about it I would take it to a wrap or decal specialist and let them fix it. Not really a DIY kind of job.

The front of an XLS is a coated sheet of aluminum.

Decals are vinyl.

No paint, no "rubber".

My 24 22MLE is doing the same thing. The bottom third is a stone guard material. But the upper two thirds is cheap. Not like the heavier imagine rigs. But it’s a trade off
I too have tried every cleaner I have and it will look ok for a few days then back to dull
If you find something that works let me know

Its not aluminum. It's a plastic panel of some sort and meant to be a matt finish. When we bought ours used it was starting to oxidize some. I buffed it out with a very fine polishing compound (Presta Chroma) and a Makita rotary polisher. Then treated it with 303 aerospace from then on. 303 doesn't last all that long so you have to treat it several times a year.
