Black tank valve won’t close

Opened black tank valve to empty but now it won’t close, no matter how hard I push It won’t budge. Any suggestions.

It would help to know year, make, model of your camper, but in general sound like you have a remotely operated valve with a cable issue. If we know the former, we may be able to help you access it to close at the valve.

2020 Imagine 2600RB. Certainly appears to be a valve/cable issue
Which is in the under belly. Hurricane Ida has us living in it temporarily, so I’m trying to get my hands on a Valera twist valve for a temp fix

A frequent cause of the problem you describe is debris left over in the tank from the build (i.e. the disc left over from sawing one of the holes in the tank). If that's the case, the valve will have to be removed at the tank to get the disk out. You me be able to temporarily dislodge it by getting one of the backflush assemblies like these:

No guarantee in that, though. If you use the search function, there have been a number of threads on this topic and you may find some useful information in those.

You can create a signature block with your RV and tow vehicle information (see mine below). That way you won't have to repeat that information whenever you post or ask a question - and others won't have to ask. You can create a signature by going to:

Umph! Underbelly tank. @SecondChance is on to where I'd lead you before dropping the coroplast as well. You can often find the backwash caps right at ACE, Walmart, and most any camper dealer. If a no-go, and you have full hook-up, you can try surging the tank from above. Fill a 5 gallon bucket with warm water, hold open the flush valve, and pour it it as fast as it will take it while someone else try to move the valve.

If the backflush attachments don't work, rinse the black tank, completely.

Then, get to a dumping station that is on a concrete pad that slopes (like those at most rest areas on the interstates) shove your rinse hose up the outlet pipe to poke the blockage out of the way with the end of the hose (wear plastic gloves), until you can get in there and get it fixed.


Be SURE to flush completely, before you do so!

You don't need the bacteria contaminating the ground, thus the use of the concrete pad type of dumping station.

Rinse the concrete pad with Clorox when finished.

The Valtera twist-on valve is a good thing to have, in any case.
