Blackstone Grills

I'm looking at getting a Blackstone Grill and there is so many models I'm not sure if one is better then the other.

I have a few questions:

I see one for $217 which is the Blackstone Adventure Ready 22" Griddle with Stand and Adapter Hose. Is this a good price and model?

Does anybody know if there is a difference between the Adventure Ready and the On-The-Go models.

Also for those that have one would you get one again if something happened to it?

Is it worth the extra weight to get a 22" versus a 17"?

Thanks.

We use a Griswold 403 camp stove with a Griswold #9 griddle. Adapted the stove to propane. It cooks great! We use the griddle on the fire pit sometimes to make Fajitas.

We love our Blackstne but one annoying issue was leveling. I 3D printed some levelers but they were never steady enough. I then bought screw in leaving legs from Amazon:

They screw in place of the little rubber legs and make leveling a snap

That's a great idea. I just might try that as we don't always use the stand that came with it. And yes, that stand I sometimes find a pain to adjust.

I've had one for a long time, built it into my outdoor kitchen. I don't have a full cover but I do have a roof over my kitchen. The unit works great though at times I do wish I had splurged for a commercial style griddle.

Looks good to me.

I've always used a Weber charcoal grill and never used a outdoor griddle.

After using the 22" blackstone griddle in the RV I planned on going the griddle route for the home also. So much nicer than a grill for most things. But the grill also has its advantages occasionally. I just bought one of these that I plan on building into an outdoor kitchen come spring.

Though much pricier than the blackstone, it has griddle or grill options. It also has an optional griddle accessory that covers 2/3's so it leaves 1/3 as a grill. Haven't used it yet so can't give you an opinion yet, but have high hopes. seems to have good reviews.

That's a nice setup. A combination grill/griddle might be what need. What ever I get I plan on plumbing it to my 500 gallon propane tank.

I have a 17” griddle style Blackstone in the N Houston area free to a good home. It is perfect and I always kept it clean and seasoned. Come and get it if in the area. Has the bag and the on site cover.

Well we bit into the Blackstone and just purchased the 17" electric table top, rollback price $100. Very light weight. Used it this morning, indoors setting on top of the stove, It's ok, but has the non-stick surface plate that is slicker than snot, but not the cast iron, has a glass top lid and carrying case. We can use it indoors because its electric.
We still have our pellet smoker for chops, stakes, brisket, pork loin, chicken and such. So i guess we are ready for anything,

Someone needs to change the topic to Blackstone Griddles.

I am in the market for a good grill. The one I have has lasted 25+ years and I cannot get parts anymore.

Thanks.
Funny you should ask, I have had several Blackstone's 2 17", 1 22", 1 36' and now one 20" non-cast iron but the non-stick griddle. The 36" was use for home but was really too big for just the 2 of us. So I sold the 36" and replaced with the 22" from the RV. The 22" for the RV was too heavy for my we constantly left out of truck bed or RV pass-thru storage. Since I sold my 1st 17" I bought another one with the built in hood for the RV, it was lighter and easier to move around the truck and RV but only had one burner. I missed the 22" BS that had 2 burners. Then BS came out with a new model the 2 burner non-stick top. Much lighter and easier to clean than the cast iron tops. It has a cover, 2 burners , low profile and half the weight of a cast iron griddle. I bought it earlier this year (2024) from Walmart. Walmart seemed to be the only place you could buy it unless you bought direct from BS. The cons is it's hard to see if the burners are lit so I have to lift the griddle up a little to see flame. The other issue is the grease catcher gets full from just cooking one package of beacon. So out of the all the different sizes I settle on the BS that is more portable, lighter and easy to keep clean. The Non-stick top may not get ass hot as the cast iron griddles but hot enough for the things I cook. I think the one I have now was $150 at Walmart. I convert the propane bottle attachment to a 12foot propane hose to the axillary port on the RV.

I just got a 22” BS with stand. My goal was to consolidate my Weber Q1200 w/stand, Coleman cooktop/cast iron pan, and small Webber charcoal grill.

Used it for the first time last night to make a steak at home. Came out good, but I’ll have to get more efficient with my system of cleaning. Mainly, get a proper scraper. Seems like I spent forever fiddling around with that. I also screwed up the lid. I put it together and thought the lid was bent so I straightened it out. Unbeknownst to me the heat fixes the shape. So now, it won’t close right when heated up. Just have to bend it back the other way.

It is indeed heavy. Almost as heavy as my generator and will take up a little more room than my WeberQ/stand in the same spot of basement storage. I’ll have to be careful not to bend or rip the door edge.

Also, ordered an adapter to plug into the RV propane like my WeberQ as it does indeed eat the little green bottles.

I like it overall aside from the weight. I like that it’s clean after use in comparison to the Weber, and that it can serve multiple purposes. I may still keep the little charcoal grill in there since it weighs nothing and takes up little space.
