Blown low point valve on city water? Pouring water out bottom

I am hooked up to city water and I turned my cold low point valve open and now water is pouring out the bottom and I can't get it to close.

Did the knob or handle come off the valve? It is probably a simple ball valve. You can get replacements at a big box HW store.

Was there a reason you opened the low point drain? Another Question, when did GD start using valves on the low points?
Try turning off the water at the pedastal and let it drain, maybe the pressure is preventing it from turning.

ON my solitude, the o-ring inside the valve rolled and broke. I suspect that I had too much pressure going to the camper from the campground spigot. I pulled the low pressure valve apart and replaced the o-ring, all good. Be sure you get the valve put back together the way it was, it can go together different ways. use a little plumbers grease if you have it, on the o-rings.

One little known problem with some valves that use o-rings - which includes most used on RVs. If you operate then under FLOWING (not static) water conditions, the o-ring can become displaced from its seat, and often is clipped (cut, damaged) when you operate the valve again. Safest way is to shut off city water at the source or shut off the water pump - operate the valve - then restore the pressure.

I think the safest way is to shut off the city water and the water pump. Open a spigot to relieve the pressure on the system, then operate the valve. I use this procedure any time I change the valve setting on the nautilus panel as well.

I would add this advice... after you shut off the city water supply it's best to always remove the pressure in the lines by opening up a faucet for just a few seconds. Then it's safe to operate the valve without damage.

My "19" Imagine has valves (has had since new)!
