Anyone tried out a set of 19.5" wheels and tires from Boar yet?

I'm wondering if this is a better set up than the current 16" wheels and tires (Sailuns). Or even better than some of the 17/5" tires are talking about. The best part seems to be that they can fit on existing drums/hubs.

Is there a problem with the Sailun tires I've not heard of? Seems like a pretty expensive option for 8,000 lb. axles. IMO anyway.

I ran Sailun tires for 6 years and they still worked great, and looked good.

I'm thinking you might have clearance issues (both to the underside of the trailer and between the tires themselves) with a 19.5" setup. I also think the Sailuns are one of the best tires you can run.

Over on the Montana site folks (maybe 2 or 3) are reporting newly purchases Sailuns are having failures. Apparently Sailun moved their manufacturing from China to Vietnam (import tax avoidance issue I suppose), and the tires having the issues are made in Vietnam.

That got me thinking of alternatives - 17.5" (which require different hubs/drums I think because of bolt size and pattern) and even got me thinking of those 19/5" wheel/tires.

In the end, I would probably just replace my current with more Sailuns when needed. I'm just checking around in case alternatives are needed.

I put a sticky in this Tire sub-forum and so far no one here has reported any Sailun problems.

The attractive part of those 19.5" Boar tire/wheel combinations is that they are maybe 1/2" to 3/4" taller than the current 16" tire/wheel combinations AND they fit the existing hubs/drums. Their profile (225) keeps them with almost the same diameter as the 16" tires. The unattractive part of those Boar tires/wheel is the cost! Yikes!
