Hey All,

Make Sure those Drawers are Closed and Double Check Prior to Opening Slides!

Went and picked up our new to us Solitude 344GK a few weeks back. Installed the license plate and placed the registration in the rear facing desk drawer since a friend was pulling it a couple hours to our house.

Arrived at home without any issues until we opened the slides. Passenger side didn’t open correctly and next thing you know the front was 2’ out and the rear was only 1’ out. Crawled under table and drawer opened during transport and was wedge between interior slide fascia/trim and exterior wall.

After getting the drawer out of the way the slide was no longer working correctly. Removed under belly and found that some teeth on the slide gear pack were sheared off when slide ended up crooked.

$100 part and a few hours to fix. Re-install of the under belly and insulation was the hardest part.

Friendly reminder to take a look at all slides prior to opening and if anyone needs any knowledge on how Lippert Hydraulic Slides function, adjusted, or repaired along with tips for underbelly remove/replace fell free to reach out.

Thanks,
Matt

Were you using the control panel inside or the app?

I was using the control panel on the inside. Didn’t know you could even connect with an app?.

Unfortunately you cannot see the rear desk drawers or pantry cabinet doors when slides are closed and the only way to verify there is no obstructions back there is to climb over couch and then under dining table prior to opening slides. Taking the 2 minutes to do this is now on the pre-opening checklist everytime.

If your panel is Compass Connect able you can use the app to monitor and perform functions. One function the app is smart about is not allowing slide outs to be moved with the app until the control panel is first touched. The app is smart enough to know you are moving or have moved and an inside touch must first be accomplished. Sorry about the tough learning experience.
