Hey everyone,

Has anybody ever been camping in Key West Florida? What is the best campground in Key West, and how is it camping in Key West? We are looking into taking a trip from Michigan to Key West, and has anybody ever down this before.

Thanks

Sean

Have not done it. Really want to. I keep looking on www.facebook.com for this and there is a lot of info there. I know I'd have to bring lots of money and make reservations way ahead

We camped at Bluewater Key RV resort. It's one of the nicest camp grounds anywhere but very expensive. These are privately owned with tiki huts that have tv's and kitchen's. The ones on the bay have a private dock. Summer is their off season but very hot and humid. I want to go back but in Jan. or Feb. Not in Sept.

Closest to Key West are Boyd's, Bluewater and Sunshine Key RV. Bluewater is amazing if you want to spend the dough and your camper is 24' or larger. Boyd's is usually packed butts to nuts. I have a friend that swears by Sunshine since it's been redone after Hurricane Irma. It's a short distance from Bahia Honda State Park which is spectacular. We stay at Jolly Roger in Grassy Key just north of Marathon. Luckily it's just a two hour drive for us in Miami. It's bayside so you get the sunsets and calmer water and it's not really that far of a drive to Key West. There's also Grassy Key RV Park and Pelican Bay on the same island but I cant offer an opinion on either.

We stayed at Siesta Key 3-4 years ago. Not surprisingly real estate is at a premium so they pack you in, and the prices are premium too. Still, we enjoyed our week there and were glad to have had to chance to visit the area.
