Can't Adjust Pin Box to Highest Position

I have a 2021 Solitude 310-GK that I pull with my 2017 Ram 3500 Dually. When I picked it up I was so excited I did not notice the nose-up condition on the camper. After our first trip I decided it needed adjustment, especially after dragging a rear stabilizer in the gravel backing into our storage shed. Today I set out to raise the hitch in the pin box to the highest setting, which would drop the RV nose 2" and make it acceptable. After a bunch of sweating and some blood I found out the hitch has a interference with the main cross member of the solitude frame that prevents use of the highest setting by about 5/16 of an inch. I am not a happy camper. Now I have to pit it back where it was. My hitch is already in its lowest setting. Has anyone else run into this? It looks like my only option is to raise the RV with expensive suspension mods or change my hitch pinbox setup which is also not cheap. Any ideas anyone? I am desperate right now. Oh BTW, that rusty hitch plate with lack of paint adhesion is a no cost option on my camper!

Ok, let me try to get this... You are saying your MORryde pinbox cannot be set any higher in adjustment in the wingset of your Solitude's Lippert frame and your 5er hitch in the bed of your RAM is at its lowest setting? So, can you share what 5er hitch you have? Many of us run with RAMs here.

You got it. I have the factory puck system with w B&W hitch set up. I would appreciate any advice. I cant be the only person to have run into this. It is incredible the factory hitch won't line up with the factory frame connections! I sure hope there is a simple solution but I am not optimistic. I am a metal fabricator.

Are you certain the hitch is in the lowest position? I have a different model companion but yours looks higher than mine. Could be just the camera angle- not sure. Although a different setup, I’m a little nose high with the hitch at the lowest setting. If I adjust the pin box I’ll loose bedrail clearance.

I have one inch on the B&W hitch left. I will do that tomorrow but it wont be enough to make it right. I needed at least 2 inches. Its amazing they would engineer something and pay to drill extra hoes that would not work. This is crazy. So I either have to weld it in the highest location, weld up and drill new holes 5/16'' higher, or get another hitch/ suspension. You pretty much need a 3500 to tow these things; why not make them to fit? I sure hope I am missing something simple!

How much bed rail cleance do you have?
Making the adjustments you want to, will reduce it. That is usually a bad thing

You have another notch lower on that B&W.

The MORryde is technically aftermarket in the sense your camper is built on a Lippert frame. Yes, Lippert makes pinboxes too. It's rare to be in the uppermost holes of a wingset. If you lower your B&W, you should be slightly nose high when done, which is good for bed rail clearance and no problem for the equalizers to handle for axle distribution. If you're scrubbing jacks, you probably can raise them up a hole set to deal with your particular slope situation.

In short, no you can not adjust the pin box up on a 310GK.

Longer story, before we purchased our 2018 310GK, which used the Lippert "RotoFlex" 1621 pin box, I noticed an unused set of hole on the wings. I asked the question if we could raise the pin box. The GD line manager I was talking with contacted the design engineer and confirmed that no you can not raise the pin box on a 310GK as it will hit the supporting structure. Again, this was directly from the factory design engineer responsible for the Solitude 310GK. Now this was specifically for a 2018 310GK and the RotoFlex, but I doubt much (besides pin box brand) has changed. That is the answer I received. Should it have been adjustable - would have been nice but I was not making the design decisions/trade offs.

In answer to your "nose high" question, I tow (rig in signature) with the front roughly 1-1/2" high (measure at the landing gear and the rear of the frame). With my 2018 F-350 SRW 4x4, I have a little over 5" bed rail to trailer clearance. These are pushing it, but it was my best compromise and I have not had any issues related to towing out of level that I am aware of.

Similar case here. I figure my options are (1) lower the truck, (2) raise the trailer or (3) consider it good enough and leave it as is. I chose option 3.

Thanks all. I am on the final round of torquing the pin box bolts back where they were. I crawled under the rig and looks like I can raise my rear levelers 1” which will help. I will lower the truck hitch tonight and get some measurements when I hook up tomorrow. Thanks again. Wish I had asked before starting down this road!

Just be careful to maintain adequate overhang-to-bedrail clearance.

^-- 2X what Rob Second Chance said. I have 5+ inches of clearance, I never go off road and it is very tight. Fine on the interstate/highway, but gas stations, drive ways, even drain gutters make me keep a careful watch on the clearance.

If it becomes a need, it's not a big dollar investment to have custom spring packs made that will provide more height to the camper and leave the rest of the suspension alone. However, you them need to determine your new rolling height and plan routes accordingly.

Use some blue locktite on those bolts. I had two bolts start to come loose. I was attaching a level to the king pin and set my screwdriver in the pin box for a minute while adjusting the level and happened to brush up against a bolt and it was loose. I found one more that was loose too so I backed those off and applied blue loctite and then did the rest, one at a time, then torqueing them to spec.. They have remained tight since.
