Thought it might be helpful to some not familiar with the WFCO converter/chargers and whether or not they can be disconnected when they are "integrated". This based on some other posts I've read.

These power center combine in one fashion or another the AC distribution, DC distribution, converter (120V AC to 12V DC), and 12V charger (for charging the battery). Some units have all these components integrated physically into a single device. Others have two physically separate devices for distribution and conversion/charging (think a Progressive Dynamics type converter/charger).

The confusion seems to come in where a single integrated unit is involved. While these components are physically integrated into one device, they can still be separated by identifying the correct wires and disconnecting them.

Let's say you are considering installing Victron Multiplus (just an example here, not trying to spend anyone's money). Since this device incorporates its own converter and charger. You would want to disconnect the converter and charger from the OEM power panel and tie the new system in. You can easily do this by looking at the power center and schematics that are affixed to it, locate the correct wire behind the panel and disconnect it. You cannot physically remove the converter/charger but you can disconnect it and leave it where it is. Now you can tie in the new devices without any issue.

in case that helps anyone out there...

Some good points. Did you do this on your coach? Would you be willing to share a photo or two?

I did do all of this on my RV but I apologize am very terrible at remember to take pictures. This is why I don't do social media; I never have that in mind while working on things. There are numerous YouTube videos on replacing the converter just search for something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxZYdKLZJzg&t=127s

The difference you'll see in these videos is that they usually have a separate converter/charger vs integrated as I was discussing. However, the approach is the same. You just need to find the wires that connect the converter to the breaker, and disconnect them (snip the end and tape it, and label it for future reference). I'm in the middle of a trip otherwise I would pull the panel and take some pictures. Watch a few videos and I think you'll find it isn't too difficult. Just make sure to cut all power sources before pulling the power center out.

Thanks, just thought a few photos might help others. My charger/converter is separate from the power panel.

Oh yes sorry, didn't pay attention to who responded. You wouldn't need the pics. :) I'll try to remember after I get home in Nov if it isn't freezing yet and maybe I can get some pics and make a little tutorial to post here. Thanks.
