I’m considering buying the sailun’s for my 303 rls. I wondered if these are to much tire for my 12,000 lb trailer?
The local dealer quoted me 4ea. $800 mount and balanced. 235/80/16
I thought they might be to rigid of a tire being a 14 ply tire.
would this tire bounce more than a E or F rated tire?
I looked at the sailun load chart, looks like I can run these at @80psi if needed
Have any of you had good experiences with these tires ?
Thanks for any responses.

There are inflation tables that show pressures based on loading. We didn't run the full sidewall max pressure on our Solitude, either. (Two sets of them and very satisfied.)

I ran the Sailuns on a triple axle trailer with only 2500 lbs./tire. I ran them at 90 psi, and never noticed any issues, and they were still going strong after 6 years. But I would feel uncomfortable going under 90 psi, but that's just me.

We run them on our S Class, running @ 16K #, starting out at 105 psi. During warmer towing weather @70* they grow up to @ 120 psi. Love them. $800 is about right for purchase/mounting. I use Cemtramatic balancing plates on our rig, so I don't have the tires balanced.

We ran the "G" Westlake for the first few years, they were ok as well.

But you may find car/light truck tire places can't handle mounting the 14 ply stiffer sidewall. I've purchased twice through Simple Tire delivered to a campground, then taken to a heavy duty truck shop for mounting.

I would rather have the stiffer sidewall of a "G" or "H" load range tire on a Solitude or big Momentum The E or F range is for smaller trailers. Even then, like for a Imagine 2970RL I would go to a "G" tire if possible.

Thanks for the responses, I had a tire fail on our last trip and it looked like the inside of the tire had lifted up the layers or the ply’s? The tire date code best I can tell is Jan 2021. My fear is the other 3 tires are of the same date and manufacturer, and are probably in the same condition.
They were on the trailer when we bought it so no idea how they were treated. Those sailuns have pretty good reviews and the tire looks to be very sturdy. Photo is of my existing tire.

You may have some of the tires manufactured in Vietnam around that time period, and subject to a national recall. You might check into getting them replaced by Sailun.

I had them on a Montana and loved them

Hi Rob
Like you, we have a Solitude 310GK. It's a 2018 so GVWR is 15000# with 2300 of that on the hitch. We just purchased it last summer with two GY Endurance tires on the frt. axle and two China bombs on the rear axle. The GY tires have Aug '23 date stamp and not many miles on them. My first idea was to replace the bombs with GY to match the ones already on. Now I'm thinking the Sailuns may be the better way to go. Can you tell me what size Sailuns you have on your 310GK? Did you need to upgrade your wheels to accommodate the Sailuns?
Thanks in advance for your reply!

I put Sailun 235-85R16 G tires on the last time I replaced the tires. I had 235-80-16s but wanted the little bit of extra weight carrying capacity and the added bit of height. Both sets treated me well and I will like get Sailuns again.

I don't think they would bounce anymore than a lesser ply tire. They are stiff. But I like that. I keep mine at 105 lbs.

The Sailuns on our 310GK-R are ST235/80R16. Per Lionshead (makes the wheels), there was no need to change or upgrade the wheels. I run them at 105 PSI.

It's just my personal opinion, but it's not a good idea to run a mix of tires on the same vehicle.

We have just arrived In quartzite az. So far about 1500 miles on the new sailun tires, 235/80/16 we have the 303Rls.
we run about 13,000 lbs gvw. A little heavier than the GD specs. So far the wear looks good. We had the axles aligned after we put the new tires on. I run about 90 psi.

Thanks for the tire info. I firmly agree on the mixing of tires which is why I'm ditching the two China bombs, considering getting two Endurance tires to match the two already on now, but now heavily leaning on replacing everything for a set of 4 Sailuns.
