Cooking Meals On The Road

We cook as if we are at home. We both love to try new recipes so you never know what you will get at our camp site. I do try to somewhat plan so we can pack items we may need and then supplement with trips to grocery store.

Wife is vege so lots of sauted or grilled veges and grill most meat. Frequently with rice or pasta. Similar to what we eat at home.

On difference is that since we bookdock a lot we try to prep things ahead of time as best we can simply to conserve water that would be required for cleaning mixing bowls and other prep stuff. For this weekend we are doing wings and burgers so I will premake the patties and season the chicken so that both are in bags or foil that can be trashed. There is always a pan to wash and we do tend to use real plates unless we have a group of people but not having greasy or goopy things that are water intensive to clean makes it easier.

There is actually a cook book about this. Manifold Destiny: The One! The Only! Guide to Cooking on Your Car Engine!
by Chris Maynard (Author), Bill Scheller (Author). Got the book, haven't had the courage to try it yet.
