New to site And new to FT RV life. Used 2023 - but barely used by prior owner.

I came back to the RV after 2 days from work travel and I've been hit hard with sinus issues and coughing. Could be a coincidence but I didn't have a single issue until I got back.

Thus far I ran the fan, opened windows, ran exhaust fans in the ceiling, swept, cleaned counters, etc. I have a cat - Brushed her. Tanks are emptied regularly. Washed sheets, etc last night. Nothing different re: detergents / etc.

Has anyone else experienced this? Anything I need to do specifically for travel trailers cleaning wise that might be different from a house?

Good to know. I dont think so? Haven't seen any mice or droppings. Cat hasn't been acting like she's hearing anything (like in the walls or something). I've had the RV about 1 month. Bought from camping world. The park I reside at is brand new.

How much time before the trip had you spent in the RV? if those days were sniffle and cough free you very likely picked up a bug along the way.

Welcome!

Also, if your relatively new RV still "smells new", the structure could still be "off-gassing".

Those fumes will cause your issues.

The solution is to air out the RV more than once and keep air moving through it, as much as possible.

A HEPA air cleaner is a good idea, in any case, as every RV is a small, enclosed space.

I use a Germ Guardian HEPA air cleaner with a UV-C light in it.

It doesn't do a thing for fumes, but it will get the particulates out of your air.

You would need one with a charcoal filter to get the fumes out, but the vent fans will take care of that.

Run the fan in the one in the kitchen on "low" and leave the one in the bathroom open, but the fan off, to serve as an intake.

This will keep you from freezing while sitting next to an open window.

It is easy to reverse them, when you take a bath, so they suck the moisture out of the unit.

Ask me how I know!!!

:D

Well I stayed at a friend's who keeps their place pristine. She wasn't home so I just crash when I need to travel to that area. I might have caught something from work, but wasnt having the issue at all and felt like I was hit with a brick. I think some of it is cat hair now that I have rugs in the RV.

And thanks! I'm gonna have tons of questions lol
