The covering on dinette tabletop has loosened. I guess same will happen with counter tops as they appear to be the same. It appears to be a thin plastic covering for lack of better words. After some thought, I believe what may have been a contributing factor is placing cushions on tabletop when you make a bed out of the dinette. Although the movement of cushion(s) against tabletop may be minimal, I believe this may have been the culprit. As info, I have only done this twice.

I'm trying to visualize what is coming off.
Could it have been a protective cover that was meant to be removed? Do you have pictures?

The counter and table tops have a heat shrink cover made of a plastic like material. Our island was the first to bubble and come loose, then the table, then the kitchen counter. I tried injecting glue into the bubbles and flattening them out (didn’t work). Then tried lifting the plastic stuff so I could get more glue under the bubbles (didn’t work). Finally said the heck with it and bought $1500 worth of Formica and pressed fiberboard, ripped up the countertops and made all new counter and table tops. I hired a carpenter to help (I’m pretty handy but that was too precise for me). Cost a total of $2500. This was after I talked to both the dealer and GD corporate. GD corporate put me in touch with the company that supplies the countertops. They basically told me to pound sand.

I took a short video before I replaced the countertops but I can’t seem to make it send using this forum. If you’re ok with it send your email address and I’ll try to email it
