Crashed my drone! Ouch

Ooo - bummer! Have you gotten feedback from other Mavic owners about why the gimbal cover would cause the drone to fly erratically? That seems strange - but I don't own a Mavic so I'm curious. Kind of scary at the increasing acceleration as it approached you and your wife; did you yell "duck!" as it approached?

I just bought my first drone - an Altair Outlaw SE. I wanted one that's relatively inexpensive and with a 'training mode' as well as full control mode to move me along the learning curve. I flew RC planes in high school but copter drones are quite a bit different. So far I'm having a blast but can see myself upgrading to a Mavic in the future. Looking forward to getting vids and pics of campsites and interesting areas.

Keep us posted on your drone!

Crashes are never fun and can unfortunately be costly, but we've all done it. My first drone was a low cost drone to learn to fly with. Crashed that thing about 5-10 times. Replaced motors, props, etc. Finally got to the point where I was comfortable in my abilities. Looked at all options and brands and settled on the Autel Evo. Been a great drone so far. Just wish I could fly it more often then I do.

I do try and get campsight arial views when possible. Usually spend more time talking with people about it and teaching kids about them than I do flying. That's half the fun though!

We have the same drone. Choose this since they say this is travel friendly because of the size. Specs is pretty high standard and easy to control even when it is little bit windy. Con is what pretty much all says about it|: BATTERY!

Just bought a "beginner" drone. Bought a DJI Phantom 3 Professional. Bought used, crashed on two consecutive days. Long story short, I now can rebuild EVERYTHING on the Phantom 3 Pro ! LOLOL ! I learned how to replace/repair the body, the boards, the camera, and replace the ribbon cable on the camera. On a good note my piloting skills are improving daily and I have't had a crash since the first two. I really recommend buying used, bought mine off Facebook (things for sale) for about 70% less than the retail, yes it was used, but not abused. You can find some good deals, practice on that then buy something a bit more high end if you end up liking it. This particular model is discontinued at retail but parts and consumables are readily available.

aaannnddd crashed again !!! dammit !! on the good side, i can fix it ! Kissed a branch, yes, ONE branch tip and BAM down I went !!

I'm not very good at drones, but have been doing RC Aircraft for 53 years now. All aircraft have an expiration date manufactured in - you just don't know what it is! Just cleaned out my workshop, taking a full truck load of stuff to the dump - figured if I hadn't gotten around to fixing it in over 15 years, I might not ever. That still leaves a pretty healthy ready-to-go armada, and just as many waiting to be assembled.
