Curt Crosswing

Yes...mine does the same thing when unhitching.

I called Curt about it. Said it was normal. Guess I will continue putting truck in neutral. I will try not going back all the way also.

Thanks. I was going to call Curt but now I don't have to.

Could have been a one-off thing. But, you may want to check the screw that holds the handle on. As mentioned earlier the screw came out and handle fell off.

Back from a 2,000 mile trip with the Crosswing. Hitch worked great, except for the handle coming apart. Luckily I found all the parts in the bed of the truck.

I did find something a little strange and wanted to see if the other crosswing users had the same issue. As I am lowering the 5er to connect the hitch to the 5er the process wants to push back against the 5er. Causing the landing gear to slide backwards against the ground. I assume that would not be good for the landing gear.

The only way I found to stop the pushing motion against the 5er is to put the truck in neutral and let the truck be pushed forward, instead of pushing against the 5th wheel.

Any other users find the same thing?
That sucks about the handle, I will have to keep an eye on that. As far as it pushing the 5er back or truck forward, if you start with the pin adapter 2" above the V hitch and 1" behind as you lower the 5er it will fall into place without any pushing or binding. Sometimes I get it right sometimes I just lower it then inch the truck forward if it starts to bind.

Figured as such. Could be easier said than done...lol. Will give it a try though

Thanks.

This is what I need to try as well. I tried it once and didn't get it quite right will need to try it again.

Thanks,

Traditional pinbox, not Turning Point or similar. You would have to lock it out otherwise you would have 2 pivot points. The Crosswing for a gooseball connection has an 8" offset so you wouldn't need the Turning Point offset. The Crosswing for rails only has a 5" offset so that might be an issue with a short bed truck.

Has anyone used the Crosswing with a Reese sidewinder? They say it will work with a special capture plate but I'm concerned on how easy it will hook up. My sidewinder cannot be moved by hand which may make it difficult to align.

I have a Curt Crosswing and ABSOLUTLY love it!!! Couldn't be more happier with it. So easy to remove it from the truck by yourself. Highly recommend it to anyone who is going to purchase a new hitch.

Will not be a problem at all. My Morryde Rubber pin box doesn't move and but the Curt piece that fits on the King pin rotates without any effort at all. I can hitch up without any issues and pretty much any angle.
