Dealing with Paul Evertt RV? Specifically Fife and Mount Vernon, WA

Sounds as if the Grand Design sales team needs to make getting a good dealer closer to the West Coast as a priority. Driving to Colorado to buy from the West Coast would be difficult.

Just sealed the deal with Blue Dog in Kennewick on the GD momentum 350M. Will pick up 2nd weekend in April, plan to stay a few days after the walk thru at a nearby RV park to work out any kinks and then haul her home.

I'm sure this won't balance the scales especially after some of you have had rather negative experiences...BUT, We purchased a Solitude 379fl from Paul Evert RV at the Seattle RV Show and have had, over all, a very good experience. We wasn't anxious to take delivery since we didn't have a place to put it (we're in the middle of moving to Tri-Cities). They offered to hold it for 30 days and since we live north, they also agreed to deliver it to their Mount Vernon store for our inspection and acceptance. We were very clear with the manager at Mt. Vernon, that we would not accept a unit with any defects and we were prepared to walk away from the modest deposit we had given.
We've had a motorhome and trailers before. I know every system in a modern RV, 'cuz I've had to fix every darn one of them. All of this leads up to a perfect PDI this past week. The unit was detailed and prepared with obvious care. Butch, the tech doing the PDI with me was clearly experienced and knowledgeable about the product and extremely patient as we went through every square inch of that trailer. In the end the only problem was a slightly bent rear bumper. Since this doesn't impact the normal use of the RV, We agreed to accept the unit on condition of a new bumper which is being sent to Blue Dog in Kennewick since we will be living over there.
I fully understand peoples' distrust of Paul Evert RV. I had some uncomfortable conversations with the staff at the Fife store and was never sure if I was being told the truth. Completely on the other hand, my dealings with Deanna Gilbert, sale manager for Mt. Vernon, were above board and honest. She consistently followed through on commitments and was very candid in discussing the company's bad reputation on the web. She owned up to the shortcomings and outlined some steps they were taking to repair their reputation. I hope for the rest of you that they do. For us, we ended up with a positive experience and are extremely pleased.
BTW...We pulled this unit the 250 miles to Pasco on Saturday. What a dream to pull. Stable, excellent brakes, very steady in the moderate winds we encountered.

Horn Rapids RV Resort in Richland is a nice park, quiet and not next to a freeway

Congrats on your new Solitude! And glad you had a positive experience, hopefully they can change and give Western Grand Design owners a good dealer to work with.

Glad to hear you had a better experience than most Capt Jim. Hopefully they are making a turn for the better.

Someone mentioned a Kent facility that they liked for doing warranty work. Can you please share the company\contact information so that I can get me follow up items done with them?

Thanks!

Buying in Fife

Jim, You said you were in Arlington. We have an Arlington address, although we are South and closer to Marysville. We might want to get together and share experiences about Fife where we just bought our 27RL.

I'm waking up this topic again.
I will be going into Paul Evert's in Coburg, Oregon to get my couch (left side) replaced under warranty because of threads pulling on the footrest. I had the work authorized via GD customer services. I had them ship the couch to Coburg and then told Coburg they will be replacing it.
I believe if I would have just showed Coburg the problem, they would have just shinned me on.

Time will tell.

I had a problem with one of my theatre seats. I sent an email, some pics and a call to Dean (CSR at the time). He sent the chair to my house! I avoided the Paul Evert's experience all together. It took longer to remove the chair from the crate than to switch it out. I didn't have to take the trailer in and go back to get it either!

How did the chair mount to the floor?
It looked like from underneath.

It just had a couple wood screws through the legs into the floor. Easy change. I raised the footrest to access them. There were only screws on the front legs.

Nice thread necro, orbiker! :).

The chairs are super easy to remove as posted above. We went with the 4 piece couch because we wanted to try it but soon relaized we wanted a real table and chairs. Pulled 4 screws out of the the middle two couch sections, lifted them up and out, slid the other end piece over, then added a table. Was really that easy since the off end unit wan't screwed down.

The "get it straight from GD" is also super solid advice and so much easier on the blood pressure than taking it in for warranty work. I will lay down $50 that says the end chair replacement thru PE Coburg will be a 2 month job at least...
Any takers? :)

I would go someplace else their service dept. sucks. Sales was great. This is for the Fife store only.

We were going to buy a 350m from PE in Fife and change our minds because of the negative feedback and have ordered one from Bretz RV in Missoula and will pick up this weekend. any feed back on Bretz?

We have purchased two rigs from Bretz and have been happy with both. We were treated fairly in both cases. I have sent friends to them who have had good experiences. I don't have a lot of experience with their service dept. but I think they are competent. It is typically hard to get anything done quickly during the peak season just like anywhere else. Bretz has been in Missoula for a very long time (since 1967 I think) and recently expanded their facility considerably so they must be doing something right. Of course they probably have their share of dissatisfied customers out there but overall I believe their reputation is very good. Just my two cents.
