Dealing with Tollroads / Tolls

Okay, it must have changed; I have only had mine two years. Wonder if you should call first in case the transponders need to be updated? I wouldn't think so but might be best to just check.
My transponder did not have to be updated - only had to put the trailer in my profile as a vehicle. According to NY-EZPass customer service, toll charges should go directly to my account rather than receiving snail mail. However, I just logged into my account and can see no transactions when my trailer was pulled to Elkhart Nov 8th though I am told it can take months to post. Curiously I received a bill in the mail from MA, NY, and OH but nothing from NH or IN yet and the transport driver had his own transponder. The three states that charged me did so by photo of the trailer license plate.

I don't have any of the passes but traveling cross-country through WV it wasn't bad, oh yeah, in NJ.

We use EZ-Pass and have never had an issue with billing when the trailer is attached. However some of the discussion about needing to register the trailer plates makes me wonder if the need is for occasions where the sensors don't read the transponder so the state uses the license plate photo from the trailer. If the trailer plate in unregistered I could see this cause a higher rate to be charged in addition to other billing problems. With this in mind I am going to look into registering our trailer plate especially since we don't use front vehicle plates in my state that might mitigate a problem.

I do the same. Actually I hate interstate travel so I set my Garmin with weight, length and height and avoid tolls. Takes me on some beautiful routes.
I broke my no toll rule last march. A friend showed/convinced me it was much easier going to our Ar hideaway going thru Ok on the Indian Nation Turnpike. Was he ever WRONG. $13.50 to get on and $13.50 to get off. One of the WORST roads in the entire USA. Beat us & RV to pieces .
