Our 3950BH is permanently parked. We want to put in a floor model dehumidifier and drain it directly outside. We were thinking of putting it next to the kitchen island and putting the drain through the island cabinet, through the utility bay, then outside. Has anyone done this and have an tips? We don’t want to drain in grey tank, or set one on the counter. Thanks.

Can you stick the drain hose out through a slide seal?

We thought about that, but we don’t have a place near a slide we would like it to sit. Under the lip of the island counter top is where we want to place the dehumidifier.

Whatever you decide, consider the crawling insect pathway and seal and screen accordingly.

Is there a holding tank directly below the location you intend on putting it? If not, I would go straight down and out the underbelly just like the fresh water tank overflow. Less likely to have issues with clogging due to mold growth if it is a straight shot and would make it easier to clean as well.

We used a dehumidifier all winter long while in the Seattle area. We places ours near the center island and ran a hose out the door side slide seal. As long as the hose has a downward slope water will evacuate. We have a 377 MB model and never had an issue in 4 years now doing it this way. I also uses a washer hose that I cut the end off of because it was much stiffer and yet more flexible from a kink free perspective than dehumidifier drain hose.
