Several RVers shared advice for addressing a slight leak at the fresh water tank dump valve, first recommending to confirm the leak’s exact source. Multiple members noted that what appears to be a valve leak could actually be water running down from the tank outlet or a poorly installed valve, so removing the underbelly covering and inspecting with a light is suggested before attempting repairs.

For minor leaks, food grade silicone lubricant was recommended as a safe, temporary fix... Lately, I've noticed the concrete where our trailer is parked is damp below the freshwater tank dump valve. I've looked at it and it's damp at the valve. No drips, just a damp circle on the concrete.

Is there anything I can safely use to lubricate the gasket...plumber's grease (made from real plumbers), silicon grease? Or should I just look at changing the gasket? There is about 25 gallons of fresh water in the tank. (2020 Imagine 2600R). If I remember correctly, the volume is 40+ gallons. This summer, we spent over a month on the road in temps of 90 and over. Since we do a lot of boondocking, I'd like to not lose water if I can prevent it.

Suggestions welcome.

Food grade silicone lubricant.

Can't imagine a way to change the gasket without draining the tank. This isn't something I would try to repair on the road if the water is important. The leak is slow and not consequential at this point.

If you haven't verified it actually is the dump valve itself leaking, I'd get eyes on the actual leak first. It could be the water tank outlet leaking and running down to the dump valve area. Not worth working on the valve until you've been able to confirm that's the issue. If you have already, then you're good to go.

When we took delivery of our 2017 Reflection 27RL there was a significant leak in the dump valve area. Water poured out when we tried to fill the tank. The dealer had to replace the fresh water tank because the dump valve had not been securely installed in the tank. I can see how a small leak would make you think it's the valve when actually it may not be the valve. You may have to remove the coroplast covering on the bottom of your trailer and peek inside with a light.
